Jealous. Did you have to change your door controllers?

Yes

see my post about Mirror dip

and drivers one changed to a 1T0 959 701AF Z1E

I would say worth it as you have added the max mirror functions. Did you source the folding mirrors separately or just the motors?

  • Author

The passenger motor I managed to find on ebay for less than half the price of the drivers side motor

The mirrors were ordered from the dealers, looked for ages but couldn't find any on ebay

Presumably the motors replace the large spring in the hinge in non-folding mirrors?

  • Author

No

the window motors / door controllers

Ah ok. I thought you were referring to the power folding motors in the mirror units themselves. There used to be a lot of the power fold mirrors on ebay, even for pre FL, but I was never convinced they did fold and it was mistake on the manufacturers part! Interestingly they are no longer there.

The non electric folding mirrors have a void where you could fit a motor for folding.

The problem would be that you would have to release the big spring to fit it, which would be a hell of a job to refit it.

I thought it might replace the spring?

  • Author

No

Electric folding ones have the spring too

Fair enough, cheers

Wow, brilliant as always Ed. This is something I really want on my next car as it's such a pain and gets your hands dirty :)

New Update

Changed the Roof Antenna and Columbus for a DAB version

Sounds clearer and I think the new unit is a bit faster than my old E version

Nice... Is it just the antenna and unit, or did you need additional wiring? Quite interested in doing this if I decide to keep the car long term.

I had to run another extension cable from the roof antenna to the radio, which was easy.

Hardest part was getting the columbus back in the radio cage with all the cables that are behind it. I ended up cutting some of the radio cage away

Another nice mod Eddie.

Your new Columbus doesn't say "Columbus" on it?

Another nice mod Eddie.

Your new Columbus doesn't say "Columbus" on it?

Well spotted, hadn't noticed till you mentioned it.

It has the newer start up screen logo

Just had a look on ebay and some units have columbus and Skoda Auto on the top and others don't

also had a look at the 3x FL Superbs that my local dealer has for sale, none of them have Skoda Auto or Columbus on them

Thats nice. Does it do am/fm too?

it does have them too

Then its a tempter for me too. Was the dab version much more expensive than the standard one?

Is there some info on retrofitting this? Do you know if it's possible to do on a pre? Or only on an MY "11 facelift?

I've tried with a Leon 3 + CH steering ecu, but it doesn't work all components.
