Samsung Galaxy S3 missing texts

Featured Replies

Just got my S3 a week ago, all good so far until it texts started going missing today. The notification comes through and I see the text if I'm quick enough, but I can't find it when I go into my messages :( Even deleting older texts in the conversation history doesn't seem allow them to show up :(

Any ideas from those who've got an S3 or had this problem with previous Samsungs?

Try an app called Handcent instead of the stock app. Remember to set it as the default and disable the stock one.

Not had the issue myself, no reason you should be having such a problem and you shouldn't have to download a third party app to be able to get your texts! I'm sure handcent is great, but, as said, it shouldn't be 'required' just to receive a basic text message....

What version of Android have you got on it? Custom rom or a stock rom? Go to settings, about device to check which version. If your not on the latest, (4.1.1) click the software update button and see if there is a newer version available, backup and install. If your rooted and on a custom rom maybe try a different rom....

If nothing sorts it either do as gadgetman said and use handcent as a workaround or send the phone to checked/repaired....

When you're on the message app go into settings and change the text message limit.

When you're on the message app go into settings and change the text message limit.

That will only remove older texts, not new ones. I.e. tries to keep only something like 200 messages in a thread, for performance reasons. I have 2500 SMS in one or two threads, and it does make things a little bit sluggish.

It's not to do with having drafts left hanging around is it, I found that if you leave a half written text it drops down the list until you finish it.

Just a thought !!
