2000 Fabia front door speakers

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, another newbie here...

I've got a 2000 Fabia which I bought 12 months ago. I've put up with only the driver's door speaker working intermittently until now, but I really am getting sick of it.

I've got a couple of questions.

What size are the speakers I need to buy? Some seem to say 13.5 is the correct size, but they can handle up to 17...

If I do buy 17s, which seem to be far more readily available, do I need to buy adaptors etc to ensure it fits / works?

Any other handy tips before I start would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not looking for anything special (speakers-wise), I'm only thinking something basic (e.g.: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/products/pio-tsg1722i-pioneer-ts-g1722i.html)

Sorry for the questions and thanks for any help you lot can provide!

Sam

Hello Sam and welcome along

You'll be better asking in the Fabia forum

Hi Sam, welcome!

This has been widely discussed. Yes 17s will fit but they need adapters. The other consideration is depth - the max depth the door can handle is about 64mm, most people aim to keep it well below 60 for ease!

There are those who buy Golf Mk 4 plastic adapters available on eBay, or those (like me) who just made their own out of MDF and then you are guaranteed a neat fit! It doesn't even have to look any good as it is getting covered up!

You will also be wanting some component speakers rather than co-axials. There is a tweeter situated in the door, just by the A pillar. Removal of the door trim is pretty easy, and straight forward.

Hi and welcome aboard.
