Fabia vRS Problems (Happy Thread)

Featured Replies

Collected mine today, done a whopping 97 miles. Absolutely delighted with it so far :)

Ignorance is bliss

Merry Christmas to all

Just had a blast there (it only really gets used at weekends unless I'm on holiday) - great fun. When I see the other cars I considered it's a no-brainer from my perspective. The competition was -

Clio Renaultsport (too lairy for someone my age - I also have slight Francophobic tendencies :))

Abarth 500 (too cute and not enough oomph unless Essesse, which is a lot more expensive)

Cooper S (my sexuality was questioned by several people when I mentioned I was considering buying one - not that that would bother me too much - however, for the money I paid for the vRS I would have to have bought an older one with a good few miles on the clock - other side of the coin it would hold its value better).

The Fabia is not 'in yer face' - ideal for people who don't like to attract attention.

Only thing that annoys me about the Fabia is the 'ping' when the outside temperature hits 4C - never fails to give me a fright - if I'd a dodgy ticker I'd be pan bread.

Trivial good things about a Fabia compared to the wife's Fiesta:

1. The flat roof is much better for putting take-away coffees on while opening the door.

2. The boxier shape means the windscreen is smaller in overall size, and therefore less summer heat gets into the car.

Trivial bad things about a Fabia compared to the wife's Fiesta:

1. The boxier shape creates a dirt and dust-attracting vacuum in the rear bumper/hatch area.

2. The door handle design/paint process is obvious when one opens the door handle and can see where the paint ended.

Don't really get much of an advantage with the smaller windscreen size in Scotland :) ,

I've noticed the door handles as well.

Thought this was for happy thoughts

Cold enough weather,

clear sunny South Ayrshire roads with miles of 50 & 60 mph average speed cameras to warm the engine up on

& you can save fuel for when you get to those perfect smooth empty hill roads & open it up.

(A great split personality car IMO.)

I'd just like to say after trawling through paranoia inducing threads regarding what is probably a small % of vRS owners that;

I've got a Fabia vRS Estate and have had no problems whatsoever!

It uses a nominal amount of oil (which I knew of before hand) and hasn't been back to the dealer once for anything!

Let's break the mold and post if you're happy for a change! (Hope I'm not alone on this one! )

Done about 15K in ours, uses little oil, goes like stink, more fun than the Octy TSI VRS we have though it did seem to melt the conti CS2s but now happier on Mich PS3 filled with Nitrogen. Needs dropping but we tend not to modify but it does body roll too much.

Does about 40 mpg with mixed driving. Just wished we had the variable servicing and a got other goodies but it was a good deal as ex demo so no real complaints.
