hybrid/different turbo as quick as

Featured Replies

I've been thinking about this for a while, do any turbos bolt straight on that require no mods or do people just hybrid the stock one?

I'd do the work myself but how much are we looking for a clutch, turbo and Ebay fmic?

Lastly I won't lie I'm doing it for performance what sort of quick cars are they fast as or faster? I presume mpg is better due to turbo coming in later?

Looking for around 220bhp

Cheers

Compare it too other similar power motors? Focus ST, MK1 S3, Leon Cupra R (mk1) Golf R34 (mk4) etc etc. it's a bit smaller with more torque so once moving it'll maybe be quicker. Only in a straight line though. Launching is a different story, to put the power down and go round corners at any rate you'll need a LSD, makes a huge difference.

If your looking for a faster motor and don't want to spend the money/make the mods, better off flogging it for something else.

flat out the extra torque isn't really helpful, it'll be about as fast as any other car with just over 200bhp

Thanks guys hmmm decisions.

Helps acceleration surely ?

When revving the nuts off it for fast acceleration the BHP will play more than the torque. MPG will be about the same really. 220bhp is basically a hot hatch which doesn't handle brilliantly unless you spend loads more on good coilovers. LSD, bushes, etc

I thought bhp was top speed with torque being how quickly it accelerated to. And that's according to F1 mechanics lol

You can't have one without the other.

(Torque x rpm) / 5252 = BHP.

Difference between a charged and NA engine is a charged car has more torque/BHP lower down creating a wider powerband.

It's the area under the curve that counts :)

I just like it for overtaking...don't do many traffic light drag strips!

I get excellent mpg on cruise at a steady 65-68mph on the motorway. An indicated 55-68mpg! When I fill up to the brim and calculate overall mpg, I get an average 48-52mpg

trebormint, you're like me, i brim tank and get about 48+ mpg on standard vrs. 520 miles is best on tank fill using v-power.

how much torque does an F1 engine produce?

is that why diesels have such amazing 0-60 times?

No that's why diesels have great in gear acceleration times. 0-60 isn't helped on diesels due to gear ratios.

Mine's not bad acceleration but I wish it could get to 60 in 2nd. That would be cool :D
