Dirty Torque Developments

Featured Replies

Well, some of you may have read I was having issues with my new turbo setup, and was directed in the direction of Dean and Carl at Dirty Torque Developments. Once contacted they immediately offered me up to their unit to check things out. I was greeted with a smile (and half eaten McDonalds brekkie – it was barely 9am after all!) and they set to work straight away. The issue was quickly identified and after around 12 logs in VCDS/VAGCOM and numerous adjustments they had the turbo bang on.

Well, from this point one conversation led to another, and we agreed for them to do a custom map for the new hybrid as they had already had knowledge of the car from the mornings work. To top it off, they could do it that day!

The guys set about some other jobs while I went to get some lunch and we met back at the unit a few hours later. I pulled the car into the unit and he guys set about taking the old map off and getting the mapper to write the first map for the car. Immediately the car was great to drive, but the guys asked many questions about my driving and what I expected from the car and set about making it better – truly custom! After around 8 maps both myself and the guys were happy with power delivery along with all the important bits of how the engine was running.

The guys talked me through every step of the way, and got me involved which was great. Im a bit of a geek, so threw plenty of questions to them about what they were doing to which they were more than pleased to take me through it. In fact, at one point they took me over the a spare engine where they explained how parts I was questioning about worked!

After the drive home and a few days in the hot seat its running perfectly. A nice clean, non smoky, smooth map that pulls right to the rev limiter. Not to mention their special addition – launch control!

As you can tell i'm thankful for the guys getting to the bottom of my troubles and to top it off finish with an outstanding map – Spending over 12 hours on my car! (I arrived at 9am, left about 9pm!)

I know the guys are new to the scene, but their development car is a Fabia vRS so they know it inside out, and they have some great partners to offer the full package. Give the guys a call – you'd be surprised the people they work with seeming the business is so new.

im thinking of using there clutch kit and stage 2 hybrid they have on there site good prices for them i thought

How does the Launch control work?

Fixed rpm limiter below a certain speed. After x speed goes back to normal.

So what was the cause of the issue? Actuator?

Needed stop screw adjusting, then actuator rod adjusted to keep within the limits - Its a bit technical for me, but between 70 and 80 'something' springs to mind...?

Brilliant. Sounds like awesome service there. To be honest sounds more personal than Jabbasport. I was never asked about my driving style etc. Also they seemed a bit reluctant to answer my questions at the end of the day (seemed too busy and pre-occupied with another job)

I think a drag race is called for!

I must admit, it was a great service. I initially wanted more 'punch' as it came onto boost, and a bit later, it was there!

I need it rolling road checked now to give an idea of bhp and torque (for willy waving at the pub of course!) - maybe we could go do one on the same day as a comparison. Ijm still yet to have some time to try this launch control properly as well.

Was thinking the same thing! :)

There's one I have used for the last 20 years in Cheltenham. Like going back there as I can compare to other cars I've modified in the past!

Or we wait for a rolling road day, but I do like the consistency and accuracy at my "usual".
