ALIENTECH? YES/NO/MAYBE?

Featured Replies

HI Guys,

Been reading a few reviews about the alientech window roller system. I like the idea of having this on my mk1 Octy vRS :)

Are these worth having?

How easy/hard are these to fit?

Where's the best place to get the kit from?

Ideas / suggestions / thoughts / opinions most welcome please.

Thanks.

Are these the window controlled on fob controller?

Yes (window controller).

I have one fitted, pretty easy to do. The hard bit is remembering the button presses to get it to do things! Not sure if you can still buy them, I think in the past you had to get them direct from Alientech.

On the Mk1 you can re-programme the window controller, to rollup/down on a long press of the fob, you just need an OBD cable (not ross-tech though) and a piece of software, theres a thread somewhere showing how its done

I don't think Alientechs are made any more. I have one and I think it's great. Easy to fit too.

There's another type you can get that plugs into the OBD port and I assume automatically does the stuff the David mentioned.above

Yes I have done this and works well. You just need to be careful when walking away when closing windows as you could get out of range and although doors lock instantly you have to keep finger on the lock button until windows completely closed so if you are out of range windows will stop.

Been caught out few times like this to arrive back at car seats soaking wet.

Makes you remember next time though. lol

:) would be interested in the rolling up option on stock :)
