Number Plate Attachments

Featured Replies

This has happened soo many times now its unreal!

All im after is finding the best way to SIMPLY attach your nice pressed number plates without drilling them to the car or anything daft like that?!?

I've tried heavy duty velco from halfords ive tried sticky pads from allwoods loads of different varients of the above but eventually end up getting soaking wet and loose theyre "stickiness"

Whats out there that just keeps the feckers on that u cant see from front (if you get me)...

I use double sided sticky tape. I have had plates on car for 2 years and they have never fallen off.

Got the sticky double sided from motor factors was £5 for a role probably do around 10 cars with it

You can get the frames that the plates clip into. Or just drill and use coloured screw caps...

Fabia's should have predrilled holes for plates. Ideally pressed plates should be housed in plastic frames. Coincidentally, these are available from the Briskoda shop for the paltry sum of £9.50 inc P&P with the Briskoda.net address on the bottom. HTH ;)

I had a set similar on my old Toledo and there are so many fixing holes it's unreal :p

I always use heavy duty double sided sticky tape from a motor factors and I've never had a plate fall off.

Any plates I change are not put back on with screws.

Sometimes the plates have been damaged getting them off as it does set hard.

there, there, I gave your post a pity like :p :D

I've always used double sided pads but with last years high temperatures (yes we did get some) the back plate slid down the boot lid, and because of the Yeti's curved mounting the front one kept pinging off one end. I tried to shape the plate by warming it and holding it in place whilst it cooled but no joy. I ended up buying some plastic mounts which need a key to release the plate from the holder, not much of a deterent but it is very easy to steal a plate from the normal letter box style mounts.

A pity?

Magnets on the inside of the bumpers so you can't see them? Makes for easy removal for cleaning/photos too. . .

Daft question but how well did you clean the car and number plate before attaching it with sticky pads?

There is a reason why screws are so popular!

That! ^

If you're that worried about it falling off, no more nails or tiger seal the bugger on.

I used some German style surrounds off eBay on my fabia, but also used **** loads of this cheap numberplate tape from halfords on my mates octy to keep his presse plates on and there's been no issues with his at all since.

The Key is to do it when it's warm and just let it set and then it worked well I found, so heavy Duty Velcro has done the job from me happy days

Boxy™

I used double sided trim tape like they use in bodyshops.
