Anybody had their windows tinted?

Featured Replies

I have just ordered a Vrs Blackline estate in metallic black and am dissapointed that it doesnt come with more of a tint on the windows from the b-pillars back.I'm not going to go too dark just something quite subtle.

Has anybody had their windows tinted and if so can they post up some pics please?

Cheers

Any chance you could post up a picture once you get it done? I phoned a couple of places local to me and it ranged from £180- £240 b-pillar back. The £240 was a place in Altrincham that do Range Rovers and other expensive motors, big difference in price.

Can anyone recommend a window tinting place in the North West?

Blimey £180 to £240 for b pillar back, I'd want the whole car done for £180 max.

Had mine done all round for £130, that was driver & passenger front & back & rear screen, granted that's with a discount but those prices are pretty steep for b pillar backwards.

Brimma, Thanks for posting the pic, your car looks well. I think the estate in black really suits the tinted windows.

99% sure I will get it done, just need to find a good installer now.

I spent ages trying to decide what to have and where to go. In the end of say:

1) 15% VLT is spot on.

2) don't go anywhere near a 'mobile' tinted.

3) £160 to £200 is the 'right' price.

How the hell are we supposed to do that?!

I'm thinking of doing the same (tints, not the Taj Mahal effect), looks god on a black wagon.

Has any body done it on a race blue hatch? Would like to see it befor I comit to it.

Pics will follow, but my anthracite gray has Quantum film tint (a bit metallic look, not just black, kind of matches the car color in certain angles). I skipped the factory "sunset" package as per dealers advice. My neighbor has a race blue vrs with sunset package - way too light for my taste, on a sunny day it looks like he has no tint at all.

Very nice car. Has convinced me price mine up. What % tint is that?

Cheers. they are 35% on front, 20% on all rears.

Have had all my back windows done in limo black. Looks very nice and only £100 :)

No wonder only £100 35% on the front is illegal I believe

Indeed. A little "food for thought" so to speak:

The Regulation states 70% of visible light must pass through the driver's side windows (75% through the windscreen) including any other substrate fitted to the glass. Many people misunderstand the regulation and presume that 70% allows a 30% tint - It doesn't! Glass does not let in 100% of light. Clear glass only allows approximately 86% of light to pass & the slight tint of standard manufactured glass varies from the 70% maximum limit up to approx 80% of light passing through, thus any film being applied to these windows will drop the light transmissions to below the regulation limit.

In other words. Add any tint past factory on the front windows and you are more likely than not breaking the law.

I've got a blackline hatch and had the four doors done and rear window 200 quid

Wondered how long it would be for someone to pipe up with "there illegal!" I'm well aware of the fact, however its my choice what I have applied not anyone else's!

Jeeez, that's the downside to this forum, someone asks a question & you give em a response to have the law quoted to you!

Iain tb, Any chance you could post a picture of your car?

Do you know what % tint you went for?

Cheers,

Not really no, someone has asked me what % tint they are & I've replied. They haven't asked if they are legal & what complies with the "law."

Don't understand why people deviate from the original question.

because its not really deviating, its the same subject. Thats how discussons work tbh

Ok
