  • Ignore the gold bits - mine cost £140 about three and a half years ago

  • so that unsuspecting people who dont know the law go and get illegal tints without knowing it then get pulled and have to rip them off at the side of the road. Surely you can understand that?

  • It was EXTREMELY important to bring up the issue of legality. Just because a specific question wasn't asked that doesn't mean extra information isn't given. Anyone reading this thread will have seen

Can we clear up a point on insurance and window tints. I haver NEVER heard of his before. I have had many car either previous tinted or from the factory tinted and this has never been questioned before. JB-) states that £200 extra was added to his premium!! That is a huge cost. My insurance for my Blackline is £325 all in. So who else has come across this?

It's not something they'll ask you specifically. It comes under alterations to its appearance etc. The old argument of making it look better, therefore more attractive to thieves. Perhaps not all instance companies would charge more, but Direct Line certainly wanted to.

Another point regarding insurance. Disclosure of 'modifications' includes optional extras fitted from new, parking sensors, heated seats etc. They make a note of these as they are taken in to account in terms of the valuation if you have total loss claim.

That would be 'insurance companies'. Bloody auto correct

I can confirm that more than and axa didn't give a monkeys (although one of them did specify that the tints had to be road legal, which is fair enough.

Had mine done saturday. Only £130 for b pillars back. Top job done and looks amazing. Had mine done so our 18month old son didnt get blinded ha ha. Will put a pic on when i get 30 mins to wash it.

Where did you get it done ?

Company called auto tints near grimsby. (Im east side of uk) they r on facebook. Was chatting to the bloke while he was doing it.. decent bloke!. I only went for the 20% but think it looks just right for my needs

The dealer fitted blinds to mine as part of the deal. They r great , my only complaint being the rear blind is attached to the parcel shelf , so there is no tint on the rear window when my parcel shelf is removed on my hatch. My brother has the blinds on his estate and the rear blind s attached to thewindow.

I had two previous cars tinted by the same guy on ebay mobile and he made a great job for limo black at £100, but my new order for skoda fabia estate vrs have sunset as standard now and my previous cars were a nightmare at night so im not sure as yet what i will do.

The front windows as said is at your own risk i think you may get away with a very light smoke on the fronts but its still a risk or luck with uk old bill and no windscreen tints are allowed exceipt for a shade band, i know it sucks but i can see the safety aspect as i had a suzuki swift gti with limo tints all around and it looked great in white but at night and in bad weather i had to open the front window to see.

Holy thread revival batman!

I know what you mean about the problem at night! It's also a real hazard at dusk when the car behind hasn't put on any lights! Pretty invisible.

I've had mine done at AngliaTint (Pentagon Glass-Tech), Colchester. Top bloke.

hi i think that looks good i know this is the oc thread but as its about tints do you know if the front windows on a fabia estate are tinted as the rears are in sunset as standered? can you get away with a 35% tint on fronts?

Thanks,

I was told if the cops can visually see the front windows, then you can tint them to certain extent. A touch of smoke tints on the fronts should be fine.

I got my tints done from these guys..
