guess i never noticed it before!

Featured Replies

Had a spirited drive in the vrs yesterday as swmbo wasn't with me for a change and had the opportunity to push it abit more...

...and wow they really fell short on the handling on these cars!

I know its well documented but first hand experience backs it up!

So after toying with the idea of do some suspension work or not ive decided if funds allow its defiantly going on the list.

What are the best mods to combat the understeer and the wallowing?

I would like to hop its coilovers as a little drop would help the looks out!

But is the money better spent on a set of arbs?

Ive got to replace wishbone bushes, would upgrading these help?

Sorry i know its probably been covered numerous times before but any comments greatly appreciated!

:)

polly bushes are a must, coilovers are a must, these 2 alone will change the feel and handling of the motor , dunno about arb though aint been there yet to tell you of a difference

and checking you don't have a set of ditch finders with extra soft sidewalls fitted too....

I have both ARBs and Coilovers fitted. If your suspension is in good condition, screw the coilovers and get front and rear anti roll bar upgrades. The difference is amazing.

I cant really comment on top of the range coilovers KW 3s etc but bang for buck the ARBs and a nice set of tyres is where it's at!

Poly bushes for everything that's possible or is there some that not required, im guessing the more the merrier though!

I know that the coilovers will change the feel of the car but is it something that will help turn in more than coilovers? Would like to do it all but funds will definatly not allow!

Ive got hancook ventus v12s all round which i believe to be fairly rated on here?!

Rarb is amazing

Without knowing that much about it all i was thinking either, poly bushes plus eibach front & rear arbs, or other option was fk coilovers and at a push if funds allowed then a white line arb.

Ive just been waiting for any of these to come up on here 2nd hand or ebay but nothing on here and missed them on ebay :(

handle poooooooo from stock h and r's and front/rear tt eibach antiroll set up with the solid rubber wishbone rear bushes helps

The biggest difference I notices was when adding the rear ARB.

Arb for me too. I've got matching front and rear Neuspeeds and even with standard suspension it grips like Hell. I do run Continental Sport Contact 3s all round too. Bloomin impressive for standard suspension.

Part of me wants to get a matching set of eibach or h&r arbs and part of me wants the coilovers.

Arbs may do more for the understeer burnt the coilovers will make it look better as well!

Decisions!

MINE WILL GET ROUND ANY ROUNDABOUT NOW :) NEARLY KILLED ME BEFORE AS THOUGHT IT MAY HANDLE AS STOCK CRAZY FOOL I WAS

At a minimum get a rear anti roll bar, it feels so much more planted and gives you a lot more confidence. very easy to fit too!

When I had the Whiteline ARB on your car, it transformed the handling. It's a cheap but effective mod that will make you smile as soon as you set off. It's as though the car suddenly sits correctly on the road and roundabouts become way more fun.

Think its got to be the arb first up then! If funds allow it will be that and coilovers but chances are just that.

If funds allowed is it worth get both front and rear, eg ribach or h&r?

I would get the best roll bars you can afford, I have a R32 23mm front and a eibach 25mm rear

Out of everything i've done the ARB's made the most differance

Get an Accord Type R?

I find my VRS too soft but I just don't think it's worth spending the money on mods for it. That said I would like to drive one with a RARB to see what difference it makes. At the end of the day it might make it nicer/more sporty to drive but you're unlikely to get to your destination any quicker.

I'm going to disagree with that statement, but only from my family's perspective.. Our journey time was reduced by an average of half an hour on a 70 mile trip to my parents. This isn't due to the fact that we were going any faster, but because the kids stopped being sick!

As soon as the RARB was fitted, our two girls stopped throwing up on the A64 each time we went on a journey. The reduced movement in the rear of the car made them feel much happier and therefore we didn't have to pull over at the side of the road and clean everyone up.

My wife thought it was worth every penny and has been in favour of mods ever since.

Don't poly-bush everything. It's a terrible idea. It'll make the car feel like it's doing 1000mph because of all the horrible noise, component cracking vibrations and headache inducing ride.

Focus on spring, damper and ARB tuning if you want genuine improvements.

I never seemed to feel any difference with a rarb, although I was on kw variant 3's at the time

If you get the whiteline, don't set it hard, your car will try to kill you upon lift off whilst on wet roundabouts !!!

But yes it does work.

This is exactly the reason I set mine to hard :D

Thanks for all the replies. Rarb seems the best first move!

Im just kinda at that point of do i start modding full on or just do the sensible thing and do a few little tweeks and not waste the cash!

What arb set up would you guys suggest as being the best way to go? Rear arb only, front arb only or front and rear arbs? I'm tempted by the eibach arbs (22mm front, 25mm rear).

R32 front arb are a lot cheaper and straight fit too
