Bit of help after Rolling Road

Featured Replies

Evening All,

Ive not posted much in the forum, but have been browsing for a while, today I went to a rolling road meet with another forum I am part of. When I arrived there was another Fabia VRS at the meet, with mine being completely standard and his having a PD160 intake.

When on the rollers the guy did a couple of runs and asked if it was mapped, now to my knowledge I dont believe it is, the garage where I bought it didnt mension anything and there is nothing in the paperwork.

Below is a my printout, as you can see the reading are:

147 bhp & 259 lb/ft

His made 136bhp (cant remember his torque)

Could anyone help shed some light on the difference? Both where 54plate.

Cheers

Sam

It will be standard bud

Some run higher bhp as stock!

Seems you have a good one

from what ive read the asz engine average around 140 bhp standard .... maybe yours is a touch higher than average and the other one a bit lower than average

Wasn't it just the later BLT that came from the factory with extra poke?

Probably the rollers arent totally accurate either

Thanks or he replies, I will have a look if its a asz or blt engine.

The rollers where running not far off, a few newer standard cars where running 1 or 2 below standard. The guy said his rollers normally read lower than what the engine is putting out.

Asz's are generally 140... Blt's can be 150

Remember no rr is accurate ;)

Anyone got a quick point to prod me in the right direction so I can find engine code?

I know that, there can be variations with tempreture and all sorts.

V5 also says iirc

Never thought about that, Ive only ever messed about with french cars and the engines are easily defined by the way they look :)

interesting mines an ASZ, I had it on the rollers and got 136.5bhp (the .5 makes all the difference :p)with 255.6lb/ft.

Depends how you drive it IMO. The ECU 'learns' your driving style AFAIK. Mines a standard 1.9TDi non vRS, supposed to be 100HP, it made 125.7 and 220ft/lb last year. I don't belive mines mapped and I don't think yours is either.

My BLT made 144bhp and 252 ftlb before my remap :)

I didn't think the ECU was clever enough to learn how you drive it? And if it does enough to reduce power by 10bhp?

Either way, as jase said, it's a bit of a lottery anyway, but at least you know it's making good power.

My asz has run 144bhp on two dynos. Still slower than a toyota people carrier though lol.

There is no learning like there is on a petrol car based on o2 feedback, knock and long term/short term fuel trims.

I was chatting to John fabooka and he said there is no evidence of it.
