PID - worth the cash?

Featured Replies

Hey guys - so my new bright green citigo (SE Greentech) arrived this morning (it has already been nicknamed "the snot") and so far, I'm enjoying this wee car. It's our second car, the fiance has her own Quasqui or however the hell you spell that!

Anywho, I got this on the company car scheme as it's cheap and seems to give great mpg (and there's a nice low BIK charge). Driven it a bit today around town and am mightily impressed - I'm 6'2" and have plenty of room and love the stop/start and KERS - LOL, just like Seb Vettel!

But, it doesn't have the PID as standard.

I'm mainly interested in buying a PID for the trip/mpg/bluetooth functionality but having read some threads on here, it seems it may not be that accurate. I already have SatNav so wouldn't need it for that.

Couple of questions for you if you don't mind:

Is it worth shelling out the £275 for a PID? Or is there anything else that will do the job?

Is it purely a matter of plugging in the PID into the dash mount and that's it?

Appreciate any advice/comments :)

Cheers

I reckon it's worth it. It's worth having for the sat nav, the trip computer - my favourite thing though is you can put an memory card in it and it plays all my music collection!

It's worth it, even though I never found the Sat-Nav that user friendly.

I reckon it's worth it.

Yup. Plug and play.

The satnav is ok to use once you get used to its quirks.

The Bluetooth can be a little unstable for streaming music but easily cured by putting all your music on the microSD card.

The same as putting the music on the phone, so why not?

Bluetooth for the phone works well. The PiD is probably worth it for this alone?

The trip computer has all the info you could want.

+2 ^^^^^^as above,

Don't use it that much as I do mainly short journeys but great when I need it.

Better than my built in sat nav in my previous Vauxhall and more user friendly and good at finding the ideal route for you. Love the bluetooth, which I thought would be a bit iffy as in my other cars radio setup, but no works perfectly with my Samsung.

Cheers guys - that'll be a 'yes' then!!

Now to try and persuade the better half to get one for my birthday in a few weeks...

+4 The media/Bluetooth and satnav plus the car computer make it a great option as an all in one solution. Get a micro SD card and load it up with tunes.
