Oh forgot...

I also shortened the name of the .PNG file before uploading. Don't know if this helped or not though

Quite cool that you can do this but I like keeping things OEM so wouldnt be for me.....I dont think theres much wrong with the factory splash screen myself.

There's nothing wrong with the OE screen, its just that its the same as everyone else's!

It can be changed and some will, some won't. In the same way that some choose personalised number plates.

This one is still OE looking, but different:

:D Same thing happened me :p Burning the cd or DVD at the slowest speed possible is very important. In my earlier post I think I said what free software I used. It must be an RNS510 (columbus) also not a Bolero or Amundsen etc Keep trying and good luck.

Several attempts at this has failed :( keep getting a download failed screen with can't downgrade software, I got pic of the site and downloaded it and it brought up the toshiba disc burn application on laptop so let it burn and was done after couple minutes, took to car and tried eveything!! Keys in and keys out, reset after reset and nothing, any help guys what am I doing wrong?

I guess the disc is based on a really old firmware based on the date of the original post, and your car has a newer version which cannot be overwritten with an older one.

Not sure to what extent the FW should matter with this. The burning of the disc and type of disc always seems to be a critical facture with the RNS510 the slowest writing speed possible preferably 1. I had one hell of time if you scroll back getting mine to work and used many many different discs. But I have since done it a few more times with no dramas only a few months ago. I have had sucess most with CD-R's specifically.

I used this software to get a slow burn speed, used the same for FW update discs.

In the secret menu there is a setting to enable software downgrade under the very last selection. You need to enable this first. Worked for me when I had the same issue.

Tried doing it on slow x1 download on that imgburn instead and still getting the software downgrade error still don't no what I'm doing wrong

Have u tried the secrer menu downgrade option?

Have u tried the secrer menu downgrade option?

how u do that? And will I loose any my updated maps or anything

No. If you hold setup for twenty or so secs it will bring up the second of two secret menus. Then select system and enable software downgrade before loading your disc.

Not bringing up a second menu

Just stumbled on this..... always wondered what was involved.

Thanks for the info.

Not bringing up a second menu

I think you only get the hidden menu on certain versions of FW from memory? Others will know more about that, there is quite a bit of good information on that side of things on the forum.

No you will have to get that hidden menu coded. If not, it will not be accessable.

You will need someone with VCDS.

ow not again :( lol

So I will have to get columbus downgraded to get the boot logo to work?

Ain't there anything I can do to the cd while it's been burning or summin on computer to trick it into thinking it's older version?

The secret menu is something for newer firmwares but if Ninja has an older firmware I am surprised he is getting a downgrade error...

As said though the menu can be enabled in vcds.

There probably is something that can be done to the file to fool it into thinking its not a downgrade before burning it but I am afraid I wouldn't know how.

Its not so much downgrading tbe Columbus, just letting it know the mini firmware upgrade being attempted to update the boot logo is a newer version than the existing full firmware.

Thanxs for all help guys, all along it was me in the wrong :(, the answer was right in front of me but I didn't read it...

On that netdata site it has a FAQ's page and it tells u on there, that if U get the downgrade error to push mic+eject+setup and all along I've been doing that but not the setup button but the 2 < >, so after all that I went tried again and worked straight off, very happy loving some the logos on there :)
