Leather Cleaner, Suggestions?

Featured Replies

Purchased some leather cleaner from Halfords on sunday to give my seats a good cleaning, started on the passengers seat - Sprayed the cleaner and started wiping.

I then relised that the seat actually has small holes which the white cleaning material is now in and I cant get too it to remove them!

Any ideas what cleaner I should be using?

Hi mate at work i use at work is somethin like brisk from autsmart in hot water with a coral sponge then wipe after with a clean microfibre hope this helps

I USED A LITTLE GLASS TUB FROM ASDA MATE WORKS A TREAT , But im sure theres better out there but its cheap and works

The gliptone twins (cleaner and conditioner) are highly regarded on detailing world.

As well as the ziano twins :)

I have both and can reccommend them both but I prefer the ziano combination personally. The smell after is unreal :)

I use AG Leather cleaner, it's kinda like a syrup and rubs in nicely and buff's off well. Usually use the AG leather conditioner 3-4 times a year aswell, but as you say it goes in the small perforations and needs a bit of a hard buff to work out but helps protect the seats more.

I use the same stuff as Southy above, but (forgive me for asking) is it real leather you're trying to clean or alcantera as the perforated sections in octy vRS seats are alcantera I think? That could make a difference to what you use.

The seats in mine are all leather, the centre sections have small perforations in them though and the leather care balm sits in these and can be a pain to buff out

This is what i have. Smells great too. Only thing is the conditioner is a cream. You could try applying it with a very gentle bristle brush though, to get into the perforations, then buff it with a cloth, microfibre or such like.

Gliptone here too!!!

Hi Bud,

I have the same seats as seen in the picture provided by Southy. The bit where your ass sits has small holes which the cleaning agent gets in and is hard to get out! :(

We've got a brown leather sofa at home, and missus swears by leather cleaner wipes from kleeneezie . ( Door to door seller)

Another leather cleaner to add to the discussion is 'Renapur', they have a good web site.

http://www.renapur.com/

Haven't tried on seats ( particularly with little holes in the material) but it is BRILLIANT on shoes , boots & Jackets.

As it says in their instructions 'sparingly' may be the answer for seats.

Also restores greying black trim but very expensive to do large areas.

All the best.

I have tried Ranapur and would not really recommend it for leather seats as it is quite waxy in texture and therefore takes time to soak in to the leather. It also leaves a slightly shiney finish. I am a fan of Gliptone and 3M leather wipes which leave a nice matt finish.

I use Skoda seat cleaner...

I have the same problem! My dealer told me mine were Alcantera, which is why I asked the original q, but from what Southy says you've got leather so appologies for my ****up! I've used both the AG cleaner and balm once when I first got the car and know what you mean about it getting in the holes. I gave mine a good old buff with a microfibre cloth which seemed to get rid of the excess if that helps

Cheers

Ade

I've got full alcantara seats (I think, anyway!) it's a fabric like swede (fail spelling?) rather than anything like the leather seats I've got in the garage.

Gliptone seems to get good views on the BMW forum too.

That sort of fabric/seat:
