So i take it first to see did buy?

That was a stunning looking car, so no wonder it went quickly. Enjoy the new car.

yeah first to call, was first to come, was only to buy! took it away with him then and there!

Sounds like the deal could not get any better/easier if you tried.

Is the new owner on here?

There's always a sense of wondering if you could have asked for more, but so long as you are happy with what you got, who cares? :)

Reassuring for prices of these which seem to have been all over the place for a while. I might be looking to part with my 2006 race blue estate fairly soon and was seriously starting to flap at where the prices were going. I appreciate yours was a mint example (mine is pretty decent though) and with more options but gives me confidence that I should probably be able to sell it at a fair price :)

Quite reassuring really as it shows there is always a market for a good, well maintained and presented car at a sensible price.

Enjoy your new car.

yeah i was chuffed i must say, i bought it for £6800 12 months and 16k miles ago lol

that said i have done cambelt, cruise, parrot etc

Only sold as new employer wouldnt allow me a car that old on an opted-out company car scheme.

For the benefit of curiosity, I'll not remove from trader just yet and see how much interest there is, might be a help for you guys considering selling

new owner not on here, just a local 55year old chap wanted a tidy runaround, he wanted a gti then saw this and fell in love

Wow, £6.5K for a 6 year old petrol vRS!?

You did well

Dont mean to blow my own trumpet but it was MINT. and well spec'd with low mileage, despite the petrol engine etc, its a hellish amount of car for the cash, beats a comparable gti handsdown, well i think so! LOL

My uncle was looking at that ad as he's in the market for a vrs. Very nice car! Nice to hear you had an easy sale.

What a dream quick sale, far better than trading it in! Welcome to the world of the diesel VRS, enjoy your stay. :D

Congratulations. I hope mine sells so easily when the time comes.

On a slightly random note, I wonder how much the value of cars like a petrol VRS have depreciated directly as a result of rising fuel prices? Get taxed more on fuel being bent over at the pump and in process it must also devalue the car with less being brave enough to buy a powerful petrol, based on perception that it would be a gas guzzler (not that I would say the TSI/TFSI were fuel drinkers).

cheers guys, i may have got lucky but im keeping ad open for a while, see how many calls i get and i'll revert back to see how much interest there is out there

That seems a bit autocratic! I funded an 06 vrs with my allowance, with 2 different employers. The only requirement is that it's presentable and of course reliable.

I have come across a few employers that insist that company car opt outs use cars under 5 years old. Personally I stick a private plate on and try to avoid the issue.

Our car allowance scheme has a 5 year age limit. Also has C02 limits of 160kg/km max. Other than that you can buy what you like. You cant simply hid ethe age with a private plate as we need to send in copies of all car ducuments each year for validation. We also have to have breakdown cover and insurance that covers business use, but that costs nothing extra.

A dodge is to get a "complying" car for the missus but in your name and then a monster for you to scoot about in. All it takes though is some smart ass to grass you up but i dont think its happened yet.

Our company is trying to tempt people back into the company car scheme so i think our days of enjoying the car allowance are numbered. Pity. Our boss is a cra nut so he is fighting in our corner at least.

Enjoy the blackline.

yeah its a bit of an arse. actually max 6years old, but the amount they pay goes down 50% by year 4! They are desperately trying to push people into fleet cars, but at 40% tax, I actually pay less then an effective company car for a brand new blackline DSG, plus ive lost the fully expensed fuel card and have a much longer commute so the tfsi had to go.

Why the desire to push users back into Co cars? The whole point of a user allowance was that it saved money. I've got insure, tax etc my car, all the Co does is pay me a flat rate pcm. Business mileage reimbursement is only 20p mile which would be much higher if technically totally my own car.

Not sure why they want us back in company cars. Must be to do with tax breaks or something. Problem is none of the cars on the list are ones id buy and none are autos and the few estates they have are pants.

i think a lot of it is the corporate manslaughter stuff, they have a due diligence to make sure your car is 100% legal, even if its your own.

It could perhaps be a condition of employers liability insurance maybe? If that was the case though, it would be sensible to simply withdraw the car allowance, and impose a car scheme. Even with a Co car, the user is still responsible for making sure it is serviced, tyres changed etc, not the employer.

Good price that. Gives me a little it of hope for the future.

Read an article on Honest John saying that in 3-4 years time the disparity in pricing between Petrol and higher mileage diesel cars wont be so great, when it becomes common knowledge of the potential problems associated with high mileage diesels, i.e failures with EGR valves, dpf filters, Turbo's...one of my colleagues has just shelled out £1400 for a new turbo on his Passat, a couple of years prior to that had a nightmare with a '53' 320d which cost him £4000 over 6 months due to problems with 'Swirl' flaps being eaten by the engine and later a new clutch and dmf..I'll stick with 'petrol' for the time being and the additional running costs, unless that is the Tensioner goes on my TSI..
