Bluetooth causing me no end of misery!

Featured Replies

So Mike the poor soul has been helping me via email about this but i;m stumped!

Domhnall tried to code it but we couldnt get the microphone to work everything else works bar the Mic?

Funny thing was the bluetooth would show on our phones VW_phone, then after trying a few things it came up Skoda-BT

Some items wouldn't code on the car either that we tried.

details of the scan yesterday

I contacted navicarsystem who i got it from then sent me two pics of the white connectors on the wiring loom?, not sure if i need to swap them over.

I Was under the impression it was plug code and enjoy :(

Coding for Module 77 - 0210000000010110 ??

There are two ways of routing the microphone to the HU:

  1. Direct to HU
  2. To BT module and then to HU

The translucent plastic clips on the loom allow you to route to one way or the other.

I'd go with the first option (or the opposite to what you currently have). This page explains the options better than I can.

For coding issues, have a look here as I've had similar issues with coding the module. Or here for even more info.

I ended up with '0200000000010110' (which apart from the third digit - which I think allows phone book sorting by first name - are the same as yours). I suspect that you just need to swap the mic connectors behind the HU around and ensure that all the plugs / sockets are in use.

Once you have it working, you'll want to read this to use voice control.

All sorted... kind of, swapped the connectors all is working, i dont get any info on the MFD though, is this a MFSW thing?? as i dont have one... yet.

Got a reply back from the seller of the harness in Germany apparently my coding is wrong!

it should be

0200000000000001

Personally i dont think it is.

Having swapped the connectors over, does it all work?

Have you scanned it again?

The microphone works, but i have no maxidot display of the telephone nor voice control (i'm really not bothered at all about this part) more i fancied the display on the maxidot.

Not scanned again.

Have you coded (tick box) BAP or non-BAP (DDP?) communication between BT module & car?

Many newer modules won't communicate with pre-FL Maxidot due to this. (I can't see what car you have on my phone so this may not be relevant).

If you tick that on pre fl all the other options like audio disappear as bap is not supported ..

You won't get BT displayed in the Maxidot unless you have a FL cluster

And you can't fit a FL cluster to a pre-FL!

Just frustrated that I can't fit a Maxidot cluster that work with everything I have....

Or in my case find a bluetooth module that works with pre fl cluster and hfp.

the 5k0 doesn't display in your maxidot though

Yes that's what I meant, I have 5k0 and its not there. I don't think there is a module which displays in maxidot on pre fl AND allows hfp.

I don't think there is a module which displays in maxidot on pre fl AND allows hfp.

That's what I'd like to know.

And one that also has a FAKRA plug for a roof mounted GSM aerial (in the GPS/GSM shark fin that I've fitted).

If you fit the 729B it will display in maxidot and works with all phones

Problem is it is expensive and no bluetooth streaming

Bluetooth streaming I can live without - I have MDI.

EDIT: Adam beat me to it - it looks like the 1Z0...729B box.

it was meant in jest Edward!

According to the ross tech telephone retrofitting page, only 729 and 729B of that series that are DDP. Although that page is incorrect as far as the 5N0 035 730 C module goes ...

Try this c.£149 + postage... NEW

A lot cheaper granted, but its not actually right for me as my son uses bt streaming, and I don't have the extra aerial. Am wondering about a 1k8035730D.

Uses DDP and supports HFP and A2DP according to http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Telephone_Retrofitting, and not that dear if you are prepared to try a Chinese seller...

I think it was Mike Holroyd on here that sourced his CAN gateway(s) from China - or at least contributed to a thread on the subject.

Look it up and I seem to remember that the vast majority of comments were positive.
