Best CR 170 DSG remap

Featured Replies

As per the title who does the best remap for the CR 170, particularly with DSG.

Ive always thought that APR are generally the masters for most things VAG but they dont seem to do a map for the CR 170, only the 140.

Be interested to hear of others experiences.

Shark are a very good remap or revvo to my understanding.

I've spoken to a couple of people with Shark mapped 170's when at Shark with my car and they can't say enough good things about the experience. :-)

Cheers for that, have heard good things about Shark; only thing that makes me very nervous about a remap is having the ECU removed and broken open to get it mapped....also if it by freak of nature ****s up my car and gives me any mechanixal or warranty issues down the line.

I have to say Im actually very happy with the car as standard...was a little disappointed to begin with as it felt alot lazier and much less electric than my old twincharged Fabia vRS; in fact felt very little quicker than my old 140 CR Golf, though now its done just over 1k and strangely it seems to have come alive....give it some throttle now and it seems to mostly choose a sensible gear and really punts along.

I gather most CR 170s actually put out 180+ hp and 270+ lb/ft....certainly feels that way now. I never got on with my old CR 140, amazing how much better the 170 is performance wise

I'm in a similar position. I have the same car (with 250 miles on the clock) and very much like the idea of a remap but I'm worried about the fact the ecu has to be physically tampered with. Would be just my luck if engine then went kaput!

Got more miles on mine now and as the previous poster said, it's come alive. It's totally different to when it had a few thousand on it. The DSG learns your driving style so that could be one of the reasons.

Ive had my vrs for 2 years ....well should I say the wife as had the vrs for 2 years but her citigo has arrived so I have it back...

been thinking for ages what to do with the remap but decided to wait the extra 10 months until the warranty is up and then have the dpf removed and a remap and a dsg remap at the same time by shark..............

just need time to fly by,,,,,,,,,,,,,roll on next january............

Ben @ Shark Performance, so smooth you'd think it was factory.

My Shark map on a 2008 vRS CR170 DSG estate (which can be mapped via the OBD port)

I thought they didn't need to remove the ecu now, where abouts in the country are you op?

I thought the ecu encryption was now cracked so they didnt have to remove the ecu. Is that correct???

yep thats correct. Get your finger out man.. come on lol.

ive got revo on mine and its spot on,had it done on 1200 miles and loving it but mine is a manuel

do all mappers offer remap without taking ecu out?

ie, awesome, shark etc etc?

For what its worth I'm tossing it up between Revo and Shark.

Though I was still under the impression that it cannot be done with out removing the ECU (as of when I checked with Shark at the begining of the year).

We are a Revo dealer and as far as i am aware all FL Octavia cr170 ecu have to be opened up and "un-locking", No big deal if you know what you are doing, I did mine with only 500 miles on the clock from new, Once the ecu has been opened up and "unlocked" you can flash the ecu through the obd port as many times as you like, The only time it gets locked again is if the car needs a "dealer re-flash" then all tunning dissapears and goes back to stock, to then get tunned version back the ecu needs opening up again and unlocking. Phil.

I have Bluefin on mine and its been great for 7000 miles, thats on the handset so I can remove it whenever I want. The car pulls great, I haven't driven either the Revo or Shark but if you get the chance have ago if possible and make your own mind up :)
