Yeti discounts

Featured Replies

Don't wish to upset anyone but everyone should be looking for at least a £3k discount on a Yeti above £20k.

I managed £4k on one last year with list price around £27k with the options. Local dealer offered £300.

I ordered another car today (a Ford) through drivethedeal getting 21% off list and out of curiosity put in an L&K Yeti with list of £25k and the price came back under £22k.

Personally I regard it as an advantage not to have to deal with a salesman and various clumsy attempts to sell me finance, gap insurance etc.

I accept people may not like selling privately but there are alternatives like BCA sure-sell.

Better than the deal in 2010 when discount was seldom available! I enjoyed the experience and the service-what value can you attach to a free paper cup of coffee, 3 years free servicing and being treated as a human.

Joking apart - I think that you have a cracking deal on a L&K, especially as a new sort after model.

The dealer's 8% discount off of retail, in reality is around 10% of the basic/pre-vat price, which is what figure the dealer applies his discount to, is brilliant especially when the dealer is taking your p/ex of you as well.

He knows he can sell your traded Yeti easy, as it is top of the range and low miles. He will flip that for around the £18995 mark. He will have to pay 20% vat on his notional profit margin (ie difference between what he gave you for your p/ex and what he sold it for, ie 20% of £2800 @ £560), so his net profit will still be £2240, so he will be happy as well.

This is why dealers massage the discount & part ex figures. If they can "inflate" on paper, the trade in price, that will reduce their VAT liability when sold - not strictly illegal but let's just say........?

I think this internet thing ought to be banned!

I've found all these posts very helpful, having spent the day calling round various dealerships!! I'm a newbie and trying to buy a Yeti 1.2 TSI DSG SE Plus

Factory options to include: Metallic Paint

Panoramic Roof

Retailer fitted options: Spare Wheel and Kit

What discount should I be going for? 1.5 K? 2K?

My present car is worth very little, but I'm being offered even less than list price.

I think DriveTheDeal (I like Autoebid provided one has sound switched off) is good to get baseline market (ie not RRP) prices. Need to factor some extra for non-2nd-registered-keeper, and a bit more for your preferred / local dealer's beer fund!

For what it's worth; i managed 9% off the total price (on the road including options) on my ordered Yeti 1.2 Adventure - for France that's not too shabby - normally here, if you try to negotiate on anything they ignore you and go to lunch! Mind you It's not arrived yet......

Sounds like most (not all) Local Government employees in the UK - the ones I have come across anyway.

Hey, it's FAR worse for all that malarkey over here! So many stories........

The Griffin Mill offer was in conjunction with them opening a brand new Skoda only dealership on Treforest Industrial Estate, the rest of the business is still up on the " hill. "

It's now pretty simple to get Yeti's in and around the Vale of Glamorgan.

Where have they moved to on the Treforest Estate, Anzio?

It's on Tonteg road, which is South side of the roundabout on the A470. CF37 5YH. If you Google Griffin Mill the new details are on their web site. It's not strictly on the estate, but right at the start of it. The ad they put in the local paper said it was Skoda only, but the web site looks like it may be Nissan also. They still have the other part North of the roundabout doing Peugeot, Fiat etc.

Discounts of around £3000 are still on offer, it seems, which is why I'm back again thinking about buying. Our old VWs are still going strong, but the discount does tempt me to buy a new Yeti to replace one before something expensive goes wrong.

This seems to have changed since we last looked at Yetis a few months back - I wonder why discounts are now so readily available? Is the bubble starting to burst, I wonder (and I don't mean the paint issue I now see mentioned in the forum)? Are there better competitors around? Is it because of the planned facelift?
