This is after replacing the ECU because of the internal memory fault.

I am have tried to change the soft coding to 12340 but it returns to 12339.

Is this code correct for drivers and passenger airbags as they are fitted?

Is this because I only have the shareware version and Gendan cable?

Looking i the measuring blocks for address 15 the passenger air bag is not ON.

Need full VCDS. Lite is just a taster

or register your copy of vcds lite with Ross Tech.

Can this be sorted with the full version of VCDS.

 

I am in same situation, have changed my box and come back with that result (although my auto electrician, not using VAGCOM, can communicate with replacement box).

 

I only have VCDS lite, but my auto spark is going to get VAGCOM in. I will proceed with this if this can be sorted with the full version, but don't want to waste either of our time if not.

I'm not sure, earlier this year I tried to recode a used airbag control unit from two to one airbags with a genuine (purchased direct from Rosstech) Hex Can lead and it wouldn't do it.

 

We put a new control unit in it and the coding that VCDS suggested for it was spot on and it coded in fine, I suspect that you only get one coding at these.

Well I think I am the other way around. I have a 2002 comfort model with both drivers and passengers airbag.

When auto spark connected, he could communicate with the box, but fed back that that the passengers airbag was not installed. Which it clearly is!

So, I am thinking I have a box from an early classic model which may only have had a drivers airbag???

Any further light that can be shed on this would be appreciated.

I was going to say, I am sure there is some kind of adaption process where you tell the car to learn the new module.  Have a vague memory of doing similar for someone a fair time ago, but exact process escapes me.

Has anyone had experience of 'reprogramming' a second hand unit?

Also noted from the Ross tech link that an index number is required, which I have for neither of my modules!

Further to this...

Does anyone know how many and what numbers I need to match to ensure compatibility?

I have matched the majority, yet replacement is not compatible with my vehicle.
