Is your Octy vRs quick???

Featured Replies

My Octy vRS has now done around 7500 miles, doesnt seem that quick now. The question is is this normal or should I be taking a long look for a problem - fuel consumption is good and it cruises like a dream on the motorway, just seems lacking in acceleration at times :sorry:

How do you drive it?

If you normally potter around you've got give it a damn good thrashing Sir!

The ECU is adaptive so pottering around will see the ECU respond accordingly. Some....ummm...spirited driving will caus ethe ECU to adapt and should respond with better performance.

Of course you will also have gotten a little accustomed to the performance.

tbh your probably just used to it mate, i drive a 4x4 and it felt slow after about a month.

i then got it jabba'd with fmic, cai and some samco stuff. it felt fast for a couple weks then i got used to it and wanting more. if you can try to not drive the car for a few days, a week maybe and then see if it feels slow :)

I agree. Make sure you give it a good caning along some 'private roads' once a week or so ;):D

Thats why i love the boost controller, i turn it down for a couple of days and it seems slow.. then up to full and it brings a smile again :D

I followed a 406 coupe down the sliproad onto the M4 tonight - he was pretty quick. I was just holding him. Mind you he had a "map of the Isle of Wight" on his back bumper so he may have been fettled .... :rubchin:

Try renting a corsa 1.2 for a week & then get back into the octy, thats what ive had to do and mine feels like concord now :D

have two cars. I drive a 1.2 16v punto sporting (86hp) to work and I use my punto GT (160hp) at weekends. when i get my VRs it will feel slow compared to the GT but there is the size and engine characteristics that will be different

I drive my capri 1.6 lazer to work in the week :o and the octy at the weekends  So I too get that weekend rush effect!

I know what you mean sometimes though I seem to be almost willing the rev counter to rise faster, I will give this adaptive ecu idea some cosh on my private test track ;)

Could the feeling of slowness be down to the fuel. One time I filled my Oct vRS up with regular 95 octane fuel rather than the higher 97 or 98 octane, and I am sure it felt slower, it won't 'go' at all. Since then I always use high octane and it seems to go well.

the previous owner must have been from the isle of wight too, and proud obviously

being in oxford i didn't see the need for the IOW A-Z on the back of my car :)
