Octy VRS - Jetex exhaust?

Hi All,,

The exhaust on my VRS has corroded badly from the cat back and although I managed to patch it up about 4 months ago, it's time to get it replaced. However Skoda want almost £400 for the centre & backbox.

For £400 I could buy a 'performance' exhaust like a Jetex. Does anyone have anyone other suggestions, or any reason why a Jetex would be a bad idea?

buy a second hand exhaust, I got a full blueflame from cat back for £90, and I have seen the standard exhausts on ebay with starting bids of £50, cant say anything about the Jetex as never used one of there's before..

I've had a jetex system on mine now for around 2 years, along with a de-cat.

No issues at all. Still looks as new and has covered around 25k.

I went for the resonated system and is only a little louder than stock. I'd go for the non resonated system if you want something with abit of beef to it.

I got a custom exhaust from cat back with a magnaflow backbox.. Sounds way better and will never rust or corrode like the standard one and cost less too!

They are getting quite old now. However the backbox appears to be stainless on them.

Seems I've got a few more options than I first thought. The Piper sounds louder than the Jetex and as I'm not looking for a loud exhaust (just something reliable) the Piper may not be an option (plus my girlfriend would leave me if I fitted a loud exhaust). I'll keep an eye on eBay too for offers.

Milltek exhausts seem fairly reasonable but I've read a lot of comments about them failing after a few months; anyone here able to recommend a Milltek or are they best avoided?

I have a Jetex non resonated (back box only) system + their 200 cell sports cat and have to say it's more than comfortable to live with (I'm 50 and to old for loud exhausts!), just gives a nice burble on tick over and no loader than stock with normal driving/motorway speeds.

It certainly beats the Miltec system that I had before, I bought it new through a now defunct dealer and I couldn't find the receipt, after 2 years the the back box corroded through and despite me having the serial numbers from the whole system Miltec wouldn't honour their warranty!

had a non res jetex for a week hated it,sounded stock till 5k then made a slight boom next to nothing.

now got a non res piper and decat sounds nice the whole rev range but isint loud what so ever. my last car thrashing down the dual carriage next to my house could hear up to a mile away that was loud

no noise=jetex

slight tone and a few pops=piper

Perfect for my needs, a bit of noise when gunning it but perfectly sedate any other time. A great idea for those who want a stock-ish noise level on a day to day basis

I've the same setup. It's spot on. It sounds different enough to be noticed by people in the know, yet doesnt sound stupid like a boy racer type car.

I've got a Milltek sports cat and downpipe, mated to a Piper cat-back which personally think sounds the nuts! Not too loud (quieter than my old Escort GTi with Magnex / Powerflow exhausts) but gives a good noise when booting it, and a pop or 2 when you take your foot off the accelerator

In the end I went for a Piper (thanks Rob/W8Performance!) but since fitting it, the car's behaving oddly. It's stalling at low revs and not running smoothly. Do the mk1 Octys have an adaptive ECU that needs time to 'learn' or could there be a more serious problem (e.g. lambda sensor)?

It says it will fit and its the whole system for quite cheap.

Also try a throttle body reset after cleaning, find someone with a VAGCOM.

I am running a whole jetex system down pipe and non resonated system think it cost me about 700 quid from venom motorsport

I like this! Been trying to find a stainless system but I hate the oval tailpipes. Only way it could be better is if the tips weren't rolled
