Totally agree - he dumped the car and left it instead of returning to parc ferme, fine is pointless and nothing to RBR, points deduction or ten place grid penalty for next race would have been better

  • I only hope it gets to the last race and Vettel needs Webber to stay behind him so Vettel can win his 4th World Title, only he's done too many laps on his tyres and they won't last to the end if he ha

Lots had a go and while it is the FIA being killjoys, what if we found out later than someone had dumped a load of weights in the footwell so it wasn't underweight and only won because it was. I don't think the doughnuts were the problem it was not bring the car back into parc ferme

Er, weights "dumped in the footwell" would be illegal anyway, since the rules require ballast to be literally bolted to the monocoque.

The whole thing is the FIA being sanctimonious about the donuts and him delaying the "Holy" podium ceremony.

I know that it was just an example. The FIA took a race win off someone (I forget who, in a lower category)  for having a water bottle on him he was given by his dad. I agree the FIA can be a bit harsh sometimes and some decisions are idiotic but as a minimum we need consistency. If anything is to change it has to be from next year otherwise some will start accusing of favouritism.

Personally I think having different driver stewards every weekend is wrong. Needs to be 6-8 stewards with at least 3 being ex drivers and the same every week.

The FIA know what the car should weigh, and weigh on each axle so this couldn't happen.

Next you'll be telling us when the team hug their driver someone injects their race suit with lead....

the first hug is to weigh them, then they give them the right watch to wear which has a certain number of weights in it

Mattias Ekstrom in DTM race, he was stripped of the win.

But they're weighed before they wear the sponsors watches ;)

In some respects I agree that he was fined for not returning to parc ferme as per regulations, but then again it's not every day you become a quadruple world champion. Youthful exuberance certainly took a hold of him and I don't suppose he was even capable of thinking straight.

He's German i don't think they do youthful exuberance, whats more likely is that Redbull analytics teams had factored that the increase airtime and potential photo opportunities of having the redbull logo donut in the newspapers would net way more revenue than the pitiful fine amount and told vettel to do it. As we all know one thing germans are good at is following orders.

Ross Brawn is to leave Mercedes at the end of the season after failing to reach agreement on his role.

Be interesting to see where he turns up now?

Well rumours of Mclaren and Honda are silly i think. He may just retire.

That's a shame as he's a master at tactics.

maybe him and Newey could start a new super-team of their own.

Are there no other big -budget manufacturers thinking of dipping their toes in the F1 waters when the new engines come in ?

That would be awesome a british owned team similar to brawn GP would be great. I doubt they could secure funding though. And Newey would not leave Redbull i don't think. I would like to see Brawn take over at williams. Frank lets face it is on his last legs (bad joke) but you know what i mean and i don't think his daughter has the ability to bring the team back to its former glory. But thats just my wishful thinking its not been rumoured or anything.

He never got on with Honda in the latter days before it went to Brawn, although Whitmarsh did state recently they have some "paddock shocking" news regarding appointments at McLaren but I don't expect it to be Brawn.

He surely is and only time will tell whether it will impact Mercedes next season - remember the job he did with the new regs for Button and the BGP001. Will his departure impact the new Mercedes chassis & engine for them? He was one of the catalysts for Hamilton moving from McLaren.

It's no secret that Ferrari are somewhat frustrated by events over the past 2 seasons - having signed Kimi for 2014 in a bid to restore the team to winning ways, they also have Pat Fry (ex McLaren) and also James Allison (ex Lotus) on their books. Brawn back to Ferrari may not be too far away?

VW keep toying with the idea of F1....

I'd kind of like to see Ross going to Caterham or Morussia.

To prove he is that good vettel should swop cars as far as i can see he has far the fastest car  so he should win.Eddie Lawson GP legend did just that to prove he was the best, many others have tried and failed badly proving  it was the superior machinery that gave them the edge. True champion would win in a inferior car. Lets face it its all down to the package, the driver is a small part.Thats the reason F1 is so boring now if all the cars were the same, like the old 350Lc bike racing banging fairings and aggression that realy would be racing.

^ So would I - would give them a good shot in the arm I think which they badly need. As well as getting rid of Chilton. He's as bad as his brother...neither are any good.

That's why I can never rate him with Schumi so far, and think Schumi was better than Fangio.

Schumi left Bennetton for the challenge of making Ferrari back into a winning team, and yes Fangio wone 5 titles, but he only ever signed 1-year contracts and always went to the team with the fastest car.

Way back at the start of the year I said that Max C was unproven. He's not been hugely impressive but he is getting better.

He's beaten Jules once or twice and on tracks he's never been to before. It's his rookie year and Bianchi was tipped for a Ferrari drive before he got his Marussia one. In races he's consistent and doesn't often damage the car either which for a small team like Marussia is a big bonus. I don't think he'll ever be a world champion but just needs some time to grow. I don't think he's had that bad a year compared to some.

Grosjean has shined this year, Kimi's relationship with Lotus is all but gone. Lots of supposed Kimi fans on the Lotus FB pretty much ripped into Lotus since Kimi signed for Ferrari. IMO there's no need for it and it's kids trying to be big from behind a keyboard. Bet most of them were still in nappies when Kimi started with Sauber in 2001. I run a F1 forum and Twitter with Twitter being pretty busy on a race weekend. I've had abuse if I say something bad about a driver or praise one for doing well. Block button works wonders but it's still a nuisance and it's hard to not upset anyone. They've also suggested that Lotus are sabotaging Kimi's races but this is absurd. There's still a chance they can get 2nd in the constructors which is a lot of money. Kimi probably doesn't feel anything bad towards Lotus apart from not being paid. He's getting paid by the point so will cost them a fair bit at the end of the year.

Ross brawn will go to mclaren ! The japs will be supplying the engines from 2015 I think and we all know what brawn can do with a honda engine !

Break down?

I know Brawn hated the travelling when he run the Honda team. They always wanted him back in Japan for things. But Skype, etc is readily available so who knows
