I hope he's ready for sticking two fingers up, not to be rude but to indicate his position within the team. Very compliant just like the outgoing Ausie. Just what vettel asked for im guessing. "Dear Mr Helmut Marko and Mr mateschitz please can i have Ricciardo for may team mate for christmas". Or something along those lines.

  • I only hope it gets to the last race and Vettel needs Webber to stay behind him so Vettel can win his 4th World Title, only he's done too many laps on his tyres and they won't last to the end if he ha

Back on at the weekend @ Spa :sun:

Sporting Bild in Germany reporting that Ricciardo will be Vettel's team mate at RB in 2014 ??

Eddie Jordan believes Dan the Man has already signed the deal as well. Did hear earlier today Kimi's management had apparently said the RB talks had broken down.

It should be Ricciardo but he also said Kimi is still interested in Ferrari. If Eddie is right about that someone should ask him who the Stig is

Antony Davidson? Alan McNish?

My bet was one of those two or even Gordon Shedden but all the recent shots of Stig he seems to be taller than all of them. Could be diversion tactics after what happened last time

I'd heard rumours it was Sheddon as well, but could be more than 1 person. Sure they've done that before  :giggle:

Too small for McNish

Could be Matt Neal - tall and skinny?

Unlikely to be Matt; he's several inches taller than Clarkson (for real).

Seb has dyed his hair blonde ?? :giggle:  Perhaps he lost a bet over the driver to replace Marc

Meanwhile Kimi ducked out of the press conferences today due to "illness"

So the subject of 'Tyre Failures' returns.

I was looking for it to be about good racing and a chance to compare cars and drivers,

so hoping its not all about tyre failure again this weekend.

If red bull insist on running lower tyres pressures than Pirelli recommend then this is what's going to happen.

Lewis on the last qualifying session..... I was really caning it...

Had hopes of Force India finally making the right call in quali there... To be fair it was the right call, I doubt PdR would be as high up if he only had his final run. Commentary mentioned he had DRS after Eau Rougue as track hadn't been declared wet at that point.

Looking forward to see what tomorrow brings!

And that was Sebastian Vettel doing what he does best......winning with ease!

Anyone else deflated by BBC coverage of F1?

Ben Edwards does not cut the mustard and DC's monotone but factual style hardly excites. Between them they habitually miss the main action on track too. On Sunday, for example, they missed Alonso making two passes while rambling on about some other nonsense. Moreover, they also totally missed the point when Hamilton allowed Alonso to get past prior to Eau Rouge.

Oh for Crofty and Brundle!

I've never seen/heard any motorsport commentator not miss some on-track action across a season. What's really odd is that sometimes something even gets missed when there's a week to edit up highlights!

Which wasn't what I was hoping for  :giggle: . Was an OK race, bit dull compared to other recent Spa races IMO, but still.

Monza next week. Can hopefully get a Alo/Ham/Vet/Kimi battle for the win, but that probably won't happen :bandit:.

Are RB going to walk away with it at Monza then? Power circuit- hopefully the Ferrari boys can pull something out the bag to stop the tide. Despite the good racing further down the field I am tiring of Vettel winning, it's all getting a bit boring. If someone had a car to challenge the RB then he would be dust because we know he can't "race".

Looks like he'll definitely be partnered with Riccardo next season - Dan the Man has been spotted having a seat fitting at the RB factory, and so starts the driver merry-go-round. Think I'll start a new thread on the driver situation rather than clutter up this thread.

Boring? You mean just like when Schumacher and Senna used to win all the time? Only the best driver/team combinations win and I consider Vettel to be very much like Schumacher with win at all costs attitude. It's blatantly clear that he most definitely can 'race' otherwise he wouldn't be a triple world champ.

I would say that Schumacher put a lot more effort into winning than Vettel does. One of the main reasons that Schumacher was able to do so well was because he practiced so much he knew every single minute detail about the car he was able to get everything out of it. Thats no longer possible with all the testing restrictions there are now.

The RB has been leaps and bounds above the rest of the cars for a while now. Now the car plays much much more impact as to how well you do than the driver does. Get a good driver in the fastest car and they will mostly win. If you put Hamilton / Alonso / Kimi into the RB IMO they would all beat Vettel.

Exactly what I'm saying Rob - the RB tactics for many a season are to setup the car up to get pole position and then aim to pull away from the field, the result is that Vettel doesn't get challenged by anyone and therefore doesn't have to "race". It's clear from the "Multi 21" incident that Vettel isn't keen on anyone being near him and just crys like a spoilt child to Horner.

Anyhow, racing (in whatever form you like) is back on this weekend @ Monza :sun:

Hmmmm, remember last race last year, after Vettel was turned on the "spot" in the first corner?

He cannot race? Didnt he overtake more than 30 cars during that single race?

To get a car to what the RB is now, also requires a driver with input. To be where he is now, takes some nerves. If you always say yes and dont cry, you will never get there.

And dont forget, he is still a young guy.

Seb can certainly race. He's an outstandingly talented driver. The thing I find disappointing is not so much that he's so quick and leads races from the front, it's that the other teams and drivers can't quite live with him and challenge him on a consistent enough basis.

Only 'racers' at the top of their profession win multiple world championships, not 'crying' average passengers.

P.S.

I truly hope he wins his 4th consecutive world championship this year to shut up the nay sayers. ;)

It wont shut up the nay sayers whilst hes in superior machinery doing an average job of keeping it on the black stuff.

If he took a seat in another team and won a championship i would be the first to say he's in the top 3 all time greats.

However currently i wouldn't put him in the top 10.
