RNS 510 update from 1164

Featured Replies

Could be for a Wi-Fi antenna (I'm guessing) but could be for USB updates.

But that goes against all updates being done centrally (except Columbus & MDI which are available on the net.

Hmmm ok,

Well just checked with the phone the Mrs is using, although it's a stock Android machine, it's not showing anything so far.

Neither will mine, and I'm on MP3 player app nr 4 now. It's not an absolute must, but it would be cool to have, just leave the phone in your bag and stream and see what's what  :sun:

I see you guys are using different models though, might be somewhat different...

Are they connecting for phone calls?

Yup, both of them work perfectly! Phonebook is uploaded, call list is synced.

Also using the pause button and next/previous work just fine when streaming bt audio!

Well managing fine with the new setup so far!

Now I've been offered a rear bumper off of a face lifted car, same color, also estate.

Would that fit my pre fl car? It supposed to be matching colors and have pdc attached...

Thanks, Arjan

It will fit AFAIK but the black plastic trim on it is different and it has reflectors in the bumper.

It looks nicer in my opinion though so useful to know it fits if ever needed...

It does look nicer, but only on a FL car as the side trim / rub strips of the pre-FL don't carry on around the bumper.

If you are going for a full removal of the rub strips or colour coding them, then yes. Otherwise it's a 'no' from me.

Fair point.

Indeed a Fair point, thanks!

I might just have the original one partially repainted. I like the looks of the FL hindquarter, but indeed sticking with the original one has some merit.

Thanks :) Arjan

I did look at FL ones to replace my rear bumper as there were plenty around and they were cheaper than the pre-FL ones!

However, the lack of rub strips and different scratch guard under the boot lid put me off that idea and I eventually managed to source a new (but slightly scuffed) genuine pre-FL bumper which (I hope) has now been professionally painted.

I put the parking sensor holes (18mm) in to prior to delivering it to the spray shop. So that should be a perfect bumper for me now.

Must call the spray shop & find out....

  • 5 weeks later...

Hello everybody!

I'm new to the forum and would like to ask some questions.

I live in Belgium and since sometime over a year or now, I'm proud owner of a Skoda Superb model from 07/2009.

I love the car as I'm coming from a Seat Ibiza :)

Now, I would like to update my RNS510's firmware and install either a bluetooth kit or a USB connection in the car, since it doesn't have either.

The main reason I would like to update is the larger SD cards and personal POI functionality.

From the hidden Menu I get this info:

3T0035680 / H11 / 1164 / C_EU_7112_t1012 / radio 0004

The first thing I would like to know is this: My RNS510 has the "phone" button set up as a "mute" function, so when I press the button it mutes all audio. If I update the firmware, (and the way to go seems to be 4020 (unmodified) by reading a lot :)) would it change the functionality of the button or will the update fail? Or do I need to use another firmware version?

And the second thing: I do not need to be able to make telephone conversations in the car, it's mainly for playing music with my ipod via either bluetooth or USB, so which should I get, bluetooth module or USB?

I've also asked these questions at my local VW/SKODA dealer but they don't seem to have a clue about what I'm talking about and keep offering me map updates but I allready have V10 installed... And as for question nr 2 they offered me a bluetooth kit from parrot or a bluetooth module built in that would cost me approx 500€! That's a little more then I had in mind :)

I do not own a VAG unit.

Btw, the car does have front + rear parking sencors that are on screen so definitely don't want to lose that functionality too :)

Hope somebody with you guys's expertise can help me on this!

Thanks!

Yours sincerely,

Michael
