Octy 3 on eBay

I'm missing the point ,skoda is not a rubbish brand ,they make good cars for a very competitive price

So why are people moaning ,and saying they can get a rs4 for the same price ! You can get a 911 for the same price ! or m3 it's not an issue because you can't seriously compare them can you ?

We tested and looked at bmw 320d would have to be 2nd hand and still more money, audi a4 again 2nd hand ,new golf more money and a octavia great value ,don't feel any less well made than the golf ,and the audi and bmw yes better built but like for like not worth the exta 10k

So in my mind skoda is the same as a vw golf but cheaper spec for spec

All it comes down to is badge snobbery ,yes I like bmw but 10k more that's another car for us ,VW golf yes good and yes people would look at the golf in a better way than skoda but that's our secret to keep ie we are driving a excellent product for a little less money !!

  • 22.5K is too much for what looks like a Proton Surely something like a Lexus IS200D would be a better choice? Heated and Cooled seats win it for me straight away and the 2K saving! http://www.autotr

  • Fecking HOW much!???

  • A full £10,000 more than I paid for my nearly new mk2 Elegance in 2006, when the economy appeared to be in much better shape than it is now. Ludicrous. I think they've pushed the mk3 pricing too far,

You can get a 911 for the same price !

Err - not a good one you won't!!!!

Back on topic, there was a Golf SE Mk7 parked up at my work last week, and I cannot for the life of me see the cost of my forthcoming Octavia + £3k for a smaller less versatile car, even if it does come with multi link suspension. The non GTI Golfs leave me cold, I'm afraid. But then I'm not a badge snob either!

I to looked at the new golf. I really liked the car but wasn't so keen on the smaller boot, but was willing to compromise. The price was also an issue, by the time I added the options I wanted I was £2k more than octavia. The final straw was the dealer. Just terrible, rushed me through some figures, never came back with part ex price, no brochures, no offer of a road test. I went back after 2 weeks for the part exchange price and they had not got it. Then quickly fobbed me off that my car was worth £1500 less than all the other dealers I'd been to had offered. Very poor, not a good experience VW. I should of learnt after the first time I bought a golf off them a few years ago, but I was willing to give a second chance. Silly me!!

VW dealers seem to go to the same school of arrogance and indifference that BMW dealers use!! And that is one reason I was attracted to Skoda with reviews saying how good the dealers are and how happy Skoda owners are.

Still on stilts I see:

I went to a VW dealer to try the Mark 7 and the guy could not have been more pushy, I was very unhappy and it put me off VW I must admit!

I also have nothing good to say about my VW experience. I had a 2006 Passat 2.0 TDi Sport from new, it spent approx 3 months in total in the workshop over 3 yrs, 63k miles, half of which was at only 3 weeks old while they rebuilt the rear end due to welding faults in the production process! Also spent a month off the road waiting for a fuel pump, it had a new turbo and new clutch and the dashboard creaked like an old stair! By comparison, the Superb is like a Rolls Royce, build quality is infinitely better, 4 years ago I was nervous about changing to a Superb bearing in mind alot of the parts are shared but some how Skoda seem to just screw things together better and the Skoda Customer Service blows VW out of the water!

And some of us like a car that strikes a balance between ride comfort and appearance.

I would imagine half an hour with an angle grinder cutting the springs down would sort it

I dont think you can do that with springs..LOL

I dont think you can do that with springs..LOL

Oh you can actually but id never do it due to the side effects! Its a particularly ghetto way to mod!

The ride would be dreadful!!

And the handling characteristics, particulalry on the limit... can be 'eventful'!

Done that on my 'Red Top' Nova many many moons ago - it was interesting to say the least.

I think that's where my back problems started, carbon seats and no suspension, not good.

But it was low :D

It was a tongue in cheek suggestion to be fair

people that bothered about the ride height should simply spec sports suspension when ordering, or just fit a set of aftermarket springs

I knew it was only meant as a laugh - no one would seriously cut the springs on their brand new car................... would they?

I don't know about that,is bossfox not cutting up a brand new car lol.
