Another alternative to consider could be M6, M5, M42, M40, M 25 anticlockwise past heathrow, M20. Stop at maybe hopwood services M42 jn 2. If you'll be hitting jn 11 M6 before 9am maybe go M6 toll instead then M42 westbound to M40. Try and get on M25 before 2pm?

I'm driving similar tomorrow, but I am breaking up the travel with an overnight stop and a trackday at Cadwell Park (from Devon)

Make as much use of cruise control as you can and stop and stretch your legs every couple of hours.

Top up washer bottle and check tyre pressures turn up favourite music and hustle the "fast laners"

You might want to check the destination Eastbourne is in Sussex

Dont try and over do the lengths between stops and keep traffic alerts on. do usual checks on car, oil water, washer level & tyres and have a (non acohlic) drink in the car

I would do M6, M6 Toll, M42, M40, M25, M23 A27.

the services on at Beaconsfield M40 and the new ones just after the A3 on the M25 are pretty good

688 miles (1100 kms) my personal best including visiting three customers. Audio via Pandora streaming radio on the iPhone. GPS by tom tom on the iPhone (Columbus GPS is poo). Rather tired by the end of the day.

I will also be heading south tomorrow from St Helens, leave about ish, M6 south, call in at Cheadle, then head across the A50, down the M1, onto A14 call in at Corby, just near Rockingham, then back on the A14 to the M11, then M25 and stop at Dartford until Wednesday afternoon, then gun it back again.

In your superb it should be a breeze, fill it with fuel and go, simples.

As said above though, possibly head around gatwick end of M25 as Dartford is bad at the best of times!
