Tekno RX11 Alloys - thoughts and opinions?

Featured Replies

These look really nice. I am a sucker for two tone wheels that look good & that are practiacally easy to clean. Job well done there.

Agree with Rob - they're cheap for a reason. I'd stay OEM or go for something better and second hand if thats your budget. Honestly, I would expect to see them on a Corsa or something parked outside Halfords.

There the Pegasus alloys all Sport models had them as standard I believe.

Correct...thats what I have on my Sport!

They do indeed look cheap and would be best fitted to a 10yr+ chavy boy racer car, the Skoda needs a softer more classy look unless u are of course a chavy boy racer...no offence intended lol!

I've got a black Sport with Pegasus alloys but I did just find myself taking a cheeky second look at those Tekno ones.........

I'm baffled as to why there are several 'chav' comments about these wheels. I think they look sporty, but not over the top at all! The kind of remind me of the new-ish Nissan alloys, frequently found on top end Qashqais.

As for me being a chav - perhaps. I'm a 30-something father, married, lecture at a university and listen to heavy metal. Perhaps an archetype chav to some of you?!

To me, a chavvy alloy is something like this:

or, most definitely;

Not seen them in the flesh , but the style looks good. Find a seller and see what they are like next to the car , you will instantly know. Standard wheels are ok , but a bit boring , despite the black and gunmetal grey paint schemes. good hunting !

You asked for an opinion. Opinion seems split between good/bad. If everyone followed everyone else we'd all be driving around in identical cars!

True - I welcome the opinion, but was genuinely baffled by the 'chav' aspect of the negative ones.

Don't take it personally, I think it was more an opinion on the wheels and what some people might think they'd be better suited to.

Have a look on ebay and see if you can find some used Merc/VAG wheels. Probably end up cheaper getting some nice Merc wheels///

Oh, I definitely didn't take it personally (as an insult), but I question my own taste all the time and just hadn't considered these as crass wheels.

I still really like the look of them!

Maybe one of the guys on here with good photoshop skills might be able to do a mock up for you?......

That would be most useful, and very generous of the person with those skills!

They would be a pain to clean though.Find a nice set of Pegasus alloys but they seem to be very rare now.

I love those wheels. They look really nice and would work well on the car. Post some pics if you get them would love to see it.

Here is a little tip , check out www.rtecshop.com , on their site there is a wheels configurator , lets you try the wheels on their picture of your car .....just to give you a hint of what they will look like on. Now i tried this site before my first reply ( they don't have the wheels you after on their ) , but they have something simillar .....check them out. Heres the link ( also it's not a black , but at least it's an estate/combi )

Well i'll have to disagree with the last one a little bit , cause i got a set those with the original rs grey and silver colour last year. But they got really scuffed up , so had them refurbished all gloss black ......been waiting for the weather to change to see if a made a complete bo bo , my orginal alloys have winter tyres on. But would never do the black and red thing ....eeek. Although it's an original Audi RS3 colour scheme .! I have a black car too , so i expect it to look quite menacing on the road with the black wheels on , plan to put alloygators to protect the rim and break up the all black alloy wheel and tyre combo. Fingers crossed it don't look to bad :bandit:

That's a really good resource, thanks.

I checked out quite a few on there, but didn't see much I liked!

Dear all

I like the look of these for my black mk2 1.9TDI Octavia. What do you guys think? A good match?

Has anyone else bought Tekno alloys before? If so, what is the quality like?

Cheers

D

They are a lovely wheel and should look well on the car (it needs to be lowered I would think)

Look good to me sir :D

Im also currently in the market for wheels and am finding im attracted to all kinds of strange things lol the "there cheap for a reason" thing cracks me up alittle. Personally i think skoda are taking the **** with there oem wheels, i look at it like this.

A cheap alloy wheel (excluding th damn right ugly ones that are cheap just to sell them) tend to be cheap because there not made from top end materials, not made for racing, arnt particularly light and dont carry an especially flashy badge...

Skoda oem wheels arnt made from top end materials (im not saying there bad but seriously the paint on my vrs 18s is no better than the paint on my wifes suzuki swifts, a car costing 10k new), there also not made for racing... granted thats because a racing wheel on our roads wouldnt last very long in the hands of most people (me included), there still bloody heavy and i love my skoda as much as the next bloke but lets face it the badge in the eyes of an average joe (be he a moron stuck in the late 80's lol) does not scream flashy.

So why the price??? did they make a wheel then drag somebodys face over a calculator and decide thats gunna be the price?

But as said, im with you and some new wheels are on the cards :)

As for the chavy thing well... thats personal opinioun... but then u did ask for them :D ultimately if you like them... buy them and enjoy :)

p.s i hope 2 tone isnt too chavy lol i kinda like a set of black wheels with red trim on them simply because i think there go well with the red calipers.... must be the mid life crisis my dad warned me about haha)

I think the nicest vrs ive seen (personally of course) is nick p's from this site

http://www.briskoda....k2-octavia-vrs/

Bloody nice... but if i spent that kinda money on a set of wheels my wife wouldnt probably beat me to death with one of them lol

Regards

Long live mid life crisis ......

  • 2 weeks later...

Finally added my summer wheels , with the oh so last year black refurb and green alloygators. Personally have to admit two things , was hoping the alloy gators were a closer colour to the green on the calipers ....They are not  and secondly jury is still out if i have made the right choices .....even so its slowly starting to grow on me ( maybe my inner chav is showing ) . Also looks like i'll have to change the caliper colour for a good match ...but still not sure ....
