Pics of the 'Berb Facelift-precursor of the Yeti?

Featured Replies

Looks the same, other than the Octavia-esqe nose job.

New badge is just the previous Skoda badge in VW corporate colours.

Look at a modern VW, they are a silver ring with a silver VW inside, background is black.

3-4 years from now, (nearly) every Skoda will have an equivalent VW model, just slightly different specs & different badges.

Add a few??? more years & maybe we'll only have VAG cars?

There does seem to be a lot of fairly straight rebadging going on within VAG now.. Up/Citigo/Mii, Rapid/Toledo... the next might well be the Skoda "Snowman" (big Yeti) which is going to be built in Kvasiny where they will also build the SEAT equivalent.

The Rapid will have eight (yes eight!) cousins within a year or so...

Shame really; cost cutting gone mad, when you start to loose brands individualism beyond sharing what's under the skin. Other big manufactures tried it in the past and customers started walking away, I wonder why VAG feel they will get away with it this time :wonder:

If all the cars are going to be the same, may as well ditch the Audi, VW and Seat brands altogether and leave Skoda to it, oh and let them have a little of their design creativity back too ;):giggle:

Hehe, I am pleased though that it looks like 2 of the models will be Skodas being rebadged as SEATs (and VWs in China) They haven't let SEAT loose on their own yet.

I heard a rumour a while back that the Snowman might be rebadged as a VW in America.

Anyone remember 'Badge Engineering'. The start of BMC's downfall.

I hope VAG don't step down this route. It will reduce their model range by 66%, create additional competition between the individual marque dealers consequently causing them to walk away to an emerging Far East range.

The net effect will be bad for VAG, their dealers......and their ex customers!

Remember it well:

Riley. Wolseley or Austin/Morris.

Today:

Audi, Volkswagen or Skoda/Seat.

History just repeating itself.....

VAG making a single version of a car makes sense, different badges on it does not in my humble view. VAG would reduce both the development and tooling costs not to mention reducing the number of different parts in its spares inventory.

However remember the recent new cars using the MQB platform are all different, Seat Leon, VW Golf and Skoda Octavia 3 are all very different.

The cost savings alone make it worthwhile.

Particularly if over coming years they are going to have to compete with a flood of cheaper built cars from China and other Eastern Countries.

Except the quality levels are much better

(apart from seat which could compete with British Leyland any time)

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2

Given that they have changed the badge (which looks equally as bland as their new car designs) you need something to standout....trouble is, you don't know what car your looking at !!

Why do some Yeti owners what to change to the the new badge ?????? Dont get that one. Talk about destroying a classic.

Actually the "new" badge is a return to the old pre 1993 badge. So actually it's a return to the classic.
