Oh Dear,they're the same.

Featured Replies

I was waiting in our local dealers showroom today, comparing the different alloys on 2 silver Rapids .

I then noticed that one had "new Octavia " on a small sign where the front number plate would go.

They are that alike it was spooky.

The Audi gene strikes again. :wonder:

more importantly, did you make it to your eye test on time?

You think that's bad?

Imagine how the Yeti owners feel about the prospect of a "family face" ! :D

And now the Superb.

They will all go the same way - just like everything else on the road. Then the designers will go back to designing things differently before coming back again to having everything the same!

Spot the difference. :notme:

Glad I will be going for a Combi - only to be confused with a Rapid from the dead-ahead (if you don't spot the roof rails!). :sun:

Subtle differences but yes at a quick glance they will soon all look the damn same.

Front is very similar, don't forget vw have done the same with the jetta and passat.

Superb has the same sad face on the back

Dare i say i fancy either the new Octavia or Superb in Estate guise more the Superb looks cracking still.

I got confused at first by a Silver Octy Elegance sat right next to a light grey Rapid Elegance in the Lincoln showroom this morning, thought initially they were both Octy's. Oh as a side note after comparing the two I'd oddly take the less fussy Rapid.

One other thing that struck me about the Octy on display was the almost 24k price tag, compared with my first Octy that cost less then 8k at a year old in 2001 and also noticeable more than I paid two years ago for the Yeti Elegance TDI 4x4 :S

Oh dear, that's not good.

Yawn.

Got it...The number plates are different!

After hours of studying, I noticed the following....

Bonnet crease on Rapid goes to outside of light cluster, on Octy it goes to inside of light cluster.

Rapid has no reflectors on rear bumper.

Errr, that's it!....

....until you get inside, the Rapid defo was much more plasticy, but for the money, still a nice place to spend time!

and the Octy is a foot wider inside. It does look very similar on the outside, but very different on the inside

Open ur eyes guys, rear lights and quarters are not the same, along with bumper.

I was in a dealers the other day and asked when they'd have a new Octavia in, to be told that there's one in front of me. The last time I was in there they had a Rapid of the same colour parked in the same spot.

It's quite obvious from the front - Octavia has a gap of body coloured bumper between the headlights and grill. Rapid does not.

Headlights are different.

Fogs are at slightly different angles.

^^ What AdLav said.

I can see at first glance they may be confused but they are not "the same", they just share some similar styling cues.

Too similar, I think is the point...

Too similar, too ugly, too boring, too so last decade design.

I thought i'd seen a Mk3 Octy on the road - wasn't until it passed me I saw "Rapid" on the boot...

Family face - the way forward

+1 - saw what I thought was an Octy 3 at the Vinci Toton site yesterday and had the same experience..."looks tosh...oh it's a Rapid".

Have to disagree about the styling - elegant and timeless yes. Boring - to some. Last decade - maybe but much better than most over styled new cars that look dated already (and too short). Octy looks long and sleek - a proper grown up car
