Misting Fog Lights

Featured Replies

My Superb is coming up for its second service at 20,500 miles. Apart from a few random electrical glitches it has been trouble free although I notice both front fogs are continuously misted. Should I expect the dealer to replace the lights under warranty or do they simply reseal them?

They should do, mate had his Octavia headlamp lenses, and my R36 indicator lenses were replaced under warranty both were misted

How old is your car? I had this on my old car, a 58 plate, but they were replaced with a new design one time that it went in for a service.

They are a pain to reseal, and they probably don't have the tools/time to do it. It is a very simple job to replace the fog lamp housing - same process as if you were changing the fog light bulbs.

They should replace these, it was a known problem - I'm sure there was a recall for these.

yes should replace.. i recently reported this to my agent too.. they will be ordering the front headlight and fog light assembly .. probably is under warranty.. pending their confirmation.yes should replace.. i recently reported this to my agent too.. they will be ordering the front headlight and fog light assembly .. probably is under warranty.. pending their confirmation.

Earlier I posted the same question.

I should have looked in the older posts first

Misting of front light lenses is now mentioned in the manual as in most circumstances it is normal.

you're kidding right? that misting in front lights is consider normal? where in the manual says this??

Mine are misted/wet too but haven't got round to doing anyhting about it yet. I have assumed that this isn't normal and does need sorted at some point.

My 58 Plate Super Eegance was recalled for this same problem, new units had modified seals were lens fitted to lamp body.

The design of the front bumper where the lamps sit is very poor, it is still the same on 2013 models. The lamp actually sits in water if the car is washed or in rain, as these lamps run quite hot when the cool they draw water in if the seal is not perfect, the lamps are not hermetically sealed anyway, there is a rubber tube fitted and of course this will allow air to enter, heat and then cold will cause the condensation.

Before my vehicle was recalled I used to remove the lamp very easy remove the bulbs and take indoors for a hour or so and they dried out.

SWkoda should also replace any lamp that is affected.

Headlamps are the same not hermetically sealed and condensation can occur, this is bound to happen and it is stated in the manual somwhere.

Misting of headlamps is in the 11 2012 printing of the hanbook, on page 48 under i note.
