Buying a CRD-T tuning box from DTUK

Featured Replies

Fr0d glad to hear u are also having good experiences with the box. I am still running on 2+2 and loving every minute haha !

Getting slightly better mpg as long as I'm keeping my right foot off ;).

I also got an active regen a couple of days ago, after a fairly heavy run. I think I interrupted it as when I turned the car off I got a little bike of smoke from under bonnet ! Worried at first lol but after reading advice on here and speaking to mechanics at my work this is what it seems to be, and hasn't happened since.

I may change to map 4+2 after reading your post and see what results I have with that ! What app are you using to measure as ones I've found have been a bit rubbish lol ?

Cheers cammy

I'm using Torque Pro on my Android. Couple of quid or so, if memory serves.

Like it. Will take down the curtains tonight. Man, my wiffe is going to love me!. Maybe a coat hangar is a better option for my longterm well being......

  • Hi Brimma, we were surprised as you when the TT produced the figures it did.. 3 years ago our manual Seat Leon produced 210bhp and the same torque figure of 443nm.. Boxes are like remaps, there a

After trying Map 1 (on plus 2) - this feels much like the OEM map.

I've just switched to plus 3 - is it safe to run on this setting, as I've not seen any dash warning lights on startup yet?

Fr0d

At risk of asking a controversial question... if this new box can control boost as well now, what are the tangible differences between this and a traditional remap?

we don't have any of the older CRD-T's left in stock for the Skoda, Audi etc :)

Ah so ordering a CRD-T from your site would mean my order would not go through? (nothing is on the site about them being out of stock)

Do you have a lead time for the new box and a price?

New boxes are in stock ready to be shipped & at the same price as the CRD-T

CRDT+ are being shipped now in place of the CRDT for 2.0 140/170/150/184 :)

Fr0d how did u find running on +3 ? I've been running on 4+2 for a couple of days and feeling pretty good ! Always tempted to go to 3 so any feedback appreciated ! Cheers cammy

Just out of interest is there any reason for dropping one of the maps in the new version of the box? Which map is it that has been dropped?

Cheers

Dave.

From Andrew:

map 1 is the old map 1,

map 2 is the old map 4,

map 3 is the new file

The new box comes with 3 maps rather than 4 Dave, that's just how they've been designed.

But we do offer different files for the later 2.0 140/170s

Andrew in post #334 you say that you recommend map 4 +1 (so this will now be map 2 +1 on the new CRD-t+ box on a new 170CR?)

What difference does the new file (map 3) bring to the party?

Map 1 +3  has been fine for the duration I had it on (no warning lights), but I'm not convinced running 24/7 on this "max" setting is a great idea.

Hence, I'm back on Map 4 + 1, for now.

Yeh I agree with that haha don't fancy chancing it! Have you noticed any active regenerations ? I think I had one after a hard run home from work still running 4 +2. Also to Andy would this be normal to happen ? Think I may also go down to +1 on map 4. Cheers

Only the possible occurrence I previously mentioned in post #362.

I'd you turn the box up too high the car will let you know it's not happy.. Usually an engine light or more than usual regenerations.

  • 2 weeks later...

Have any of you who have used the DTUK box actually done a comparison on fuel usage before and after the box was fitted?

The reason I ask is with the new CRD-t+ box fitted (new map 3 +1) it now used over 10% MORE fuel than before... this is on a steady 70 mph (cruise control) run based on a 1,000 mile trip (750 miles with the box fitted averaging 43.4 - 44.01 mpg and 250 miles with it disconnected averaging 50.8 mpg)

The car was loaded heavier with the box disconnected and the traffic also included 30 mins of M25 crawling which would have hurt the consumption a little.

Currently waiting on Andrew to reply to my email, but their “14 day money back guarantee” is also under question.

I tested mine and notice no difference on varied driving comparing a whole tank. More power through :-)

The power increase is nice and pretty smooth (3 +1) but I was hoping that when not using the power (the whole trip was done for maximum mpg... so very light throttle usage) that the mpg would be the same if not a little better (my Shark remapped 170CR `Superb gained 1 - 2 mpg).

When we got to Cornwall we brimmed the tank and calculated it had done an average just 44 mpg over 500 miles (@70mph) which is what it does going to and from work... 7 miles each way and big hills (Folkestone to Dover on the A20) so it has only just got up to full working temperature.

A couple of months ago I ordered a CRDe (economy) box but was delivered a CRD2+ which has me power happy but confused as far as being an economy biased box......more a power one.

Cruising at 90kph on long flat straight quiet motorways with no wind results in strange surging....2sec power....2sec coast with tacho showing 100rpm swing at the same time.

Strangely, during this cycle, fuel flow is at its lowest ....in the 3.4--3.8 (L/100km) range.

Other times 1L higher without surging even though conditions are the same in every other respect.

It's a 103(140)TDI Yeti (2012).

A times the power seems to have reverted to standard but then, combined with an up shift, comes on strong.

Has anyone noticed similar traits with this box?

Andrew, I can't see the new crd-t+ available on your site as an option for my 2012 140CR Superb. Is it/will it be available?

I messaged Andrew as it wasn't listed for mine but he sorted it out and had it in a coupe of days, sure he will sort it for you.

It's shown as "Stage 2" in the list. ;)

Dave.

Thanks chaps. For stage 2 I can only see the (older) crd-t, not the "+":
