I have change cars slightly....................

I did have a MK1 facelift 02 plate VRS but now i have got a................................. MK1 pre facelift 1999 TDI GLX, think its the 100 bhp modle but not 100%

Will get pic's up asap.

It's a realy clean car and the MPG is amazing ( 56 mpg avrage ), altho i do miss the top spec feel the VRS had, but needs must and now my monthly car bills have dropped massivly.

I few things i need to no:

Can i fit the facelift lights to it?

Can i fit a Bora 4motion splitter to it?

can i big mouth it and will it look S*it?

And who wants to sell me the above for cheep cash LOL?

Any info on the TDI whould be good, good or bad?

at a pre-facelist, I think the only options are 90 (wastegate), 90 (VNT), 110 (VNT), the 100 is a more recent PD unit.

If all the TDI is in silver in the tailgate then the chances are it is a 90, is the i is red, then it will be 110.

Pretty sure that FL headlamps are a slightly different shape and thus won't fit properly, also I believe the indicators are different too (more than just the coloured plastic). Your headlamps will be glass, the FL ones will be plastic fronted.

Splitter - not sure, but suspect it will fit. the LCR ones which are often fitted to the vRS, fit other Octys.

TDI = good.... mine is at 212k now :-)

For the newer lights i think you need a whole new front end

Bumper

Wings

Grille

Slam panel

Possibly bonnet too

Not really worth it

Anything can be made to fit if you change enough parts, However replacing just the light units won't do it.

No, as above I think you will need a new bonnet & grill (not sure on wings), but from previous posts the slam panel is different too.

Also do the back facelift lights fit?

Again, I believe not.

I think you might have to learn to live with what you have.... Diesel motoring is meant to be cheap!!

New lights wont fit in tge slam pannel mate.

As above but no bonnet needed. Just grilll and pos the brackets but bonnet is same.

Might get away with same wings too.

But not the wings or the bonnet,

The pre facelift bumper won't fit the facelift lights it leaves a terrible gap between the lights and bumper :( Get a vRS one

the vrs didnt cum in my colour :-(

i just hate the lights, its not the shape is just the pattern in the lenses i cant stand!

There is/was a Czeck company that did a twin projector kit for the Octy. I didn't like the look enough to bother finding out if it was pre facelift, post facelift or both.

think it was for the face lift, think it was a copy of the exzon std lights you get on the wrc??

Think im just going to need to live with it :-(

Im just going to live with it and make it as clean as poss with, bora 4motion splitter, dropped 40mm, some good rubber, do the grill black, then windo tints and some whind defusers for the windows, prob not in that order lol

I will take some pic's the now and get them up later.

there is another thread on here about facelifted lights on pre facelift, and Big Jase is correct, its a whole different front end.

even the indicator lamps are a little different, with different electrical connections

(as i discovered when the wrong one was delivered for me last month.. ordered a post, got a pre...)

it would be easier just buy a facelifted mk 1..

If you want more power you can get a upgrade to a PD130 turbo and put T4 injectors/nozzle in. I've been doing a bit of reading and it seems you can get 150bhp IIRC. The thing with the diesel is you can keep the economy if you drive it for economy, its only when you boot it constantly that it goes down!

Im just going to keep it the pre-face lift, too much work to change it,

I might get a stage one map down the line, should take it to 150 ish bhp?????

Think the 90 maps to 115-120bhp

yeah, 110 goes to 135 with remap I think. From what I've read on TDIclub and other sources you can swap the turbo for a pd130 unit (<£200 drop in) and get t4 injectors (not sure on cost) + a remap taking into account these things and see 150bhp. You get some pretty insane torque though.
