Which dampers will go best with Eibach springs

Featured Replies

Don't really want coilovers, the 25mm springs will make the car as low as i need it

Mainly to fill the arch gap a little bit

Been told to upgrade the dampers to make the most of the springs, which ones do you guys recommend??

Thanks

I'm running stock dampers with my eibachs and its just fine mate. Absolutely great. If you were that concerned add FARB and RARB but retain a bit of comfort

Cheapest option would be "simple" springs with OEM dampers, not ideal, but workable.

Cheapest "whole replacement" would be cheap coillies. Though IMO you should consider £500-£600 on parts alone for a decent system, be it coilovers or springs/dampers.

I have the Bilstein B8's and can recomend them

Exactly what i'm thinking after seeing how much the dampers are going to cost, mite re-consider coilovers and get a decent set rather then cheap ones

Very good quality kit for the money that offers good handling improvements and ride quality, made by KW in Germany so this also backs them up.

Sorry to hijack but saves starting another thread:

I've just ordered some Eibachs and B8 dampers. Is there anything else i should get to upgrade (top mounts, etc) or just replace bits with standard Skoda parts??

Which bits should i do??

Cheers.

Just use standard parts and ibiza cupra bump stops.

What springs have you got/are you getting?

I have Eibach Pro Kit Springs. But I think there are different types of Eibach springs. Pro Kit and Sportline.

Koni FSD's here. I think mine are now third hand and still going strong!

Should be the Pro-Kit.

Does it matter if the bump stops are off a diesel or petrol?? eBay seems to be showing x2 different kinds when searching for Ibiza Cupra bump stops.

Also, is it just rears i need??

Oh, it's an old thread, was wondering what was going on for a second lol

I went for AP's instead and didn't need to replace anything other then the front drop links

Ibiza bump stops aren't needed either

If I were you I'd get the shortened rear bump stops and renew everything handling

related you can afford to when you fit these. ARB bushes, top mounts, console bushes

and whatever needs done,

I see little point in buying premium kit and not getting the absolute best from it.

(And keep all the old stuff taken off somewhere in a box)

I had Eibachs and Bilsteins on the MX5 and they were SUPERB!

You won't be disappointed there, really top drawer stuff.

I'd also recommend going somewhere specialist for your geo adjustments after

fitment. It's an expensive set up so to get the best of it get your geo done properly.

I'd also have any bushings renewed at the same time since you'll have it

in bits and they are relatively inexpensive. It will give you the best value for money

from what the Eibachs and Bilsteins have set you back which has got to be around

the 6-700 mark?

My old MX had the geo done at the main dealer when the lowering springs were

fitted. In short they botched it and although the ride was okay the feel of the car

wasn't as it should have been at all. Took it here and they sorted it right out.

A lot of the bushings were twisted as they hadn't been altered to acount for

the height reduction and the car was unstable because of it. Just didn't realise

how much until I drove it afterwards :o

It was £128 all in and worth every single penny, I'd say there's nowhere better

to take your car to get the best out of your new suspension. My mother in law

drove down from Bristol to get it done here as all the MX forums said there

really was nowhere better. At least it's a bit closer for you.

Maybe get them to fit it all as well if you can work out a good price?

Cheers Grr666.

I'll have a look at the bits and pieces needed and check out the link you posted. :)

WIM are well known in fact they have posted here somewhere regarding alignment.

Just to let you know the fabia unlike the mx can only be adjusted for toe. Camber and caster are fixed. The back is fixed too.

Oh and if you buy the bilstein B8 suspension kit it comes with eibach springs :)

Demon-Squeeks sell the Bilstein B8's seperately and didn't seem to have a kit, so had to add the x2 fronts, x2 rears and Eibach kit individually to my basket.

Hi,

Am considering the same - have a set of Eibach lowering springs on my vRS and am not happy with the crashy ride of the original shocks being used...

Its a lot of cash to spend on these shocks - would love B8s, but the cost is so high! Can anyone recommend a cheaper alternative for a similar effect? Just after the shocks.

Best,

adil

I have Eibach springs with stock dampers and they are fine. Not crashy at all.

Hi Matt,

Ill rephrase that - the ride is not very crashy, I feel uprated shocks would transform the ride of the car after lowering it.

Are the original shocks oil filled? If so, gas shocks would make a difference which I would like to upgrade on mine.

adil

If it was me personally I would only go for the Bilsteins. Demon Tweeks have them, that is where I got my springs from.

Double post.

All shocks are oil-filled, pretty much all shocks these days are gas-filled as well, the standard shocks are fine when new but they get tired so if you're pinching the pennies just buy the Bilstein OEM replacement standard shocks, they're excellent, I think they're called the B10, you only need to buy the fronts now and get them fitted at the same time as the front springs, the rears you can do yourself later, takes about half an hour and is really easypeasy.
