Featured Replies

hi guys! i drive a 02 octavia 1.9tdi 110bhp, it doesnt seem to be pulling right in 3rd 4th n 5th (maybe not noticable in 1st n 2nd??) ive had the egr valve off today and cleaned it all out and still not pulling right.. its seems to pull right between 2500 RPM and 3000rpm?? then power shuts off a little if that makes any sense? its not majorly loosing power but its noticable!! and rather annoying! topspeed has also decressed by 15mph... has any1 got any ideas ?? thanks very much. regards. jonny.

You really need to get it on VCDS/Vagcom to see if it's thrown any codes.

At a guess though, I'd suspect the MAF or you may have sticking turbo vanes.

Try unplugging the MAF. Does it run better?

If you cycle the ignition does the problem go away for a while? If so it sounds like limp mode. You need to get the car checked with VCDS.

its not limp mode, ive had it on a VCDS and only fault code it brought up was for the temp sensor ive changed that and still no joy? whats a MAF? and were is this located? if i have sticking turbo vaines does this mean i need a new turbo :(

Unlikely to be sticky vanes as it would log an overboost fault and go into limp mode.

The maf is on the pipe between the airbox and turbo - it has a plug on the top of it.

ok how do i check this or do i just replace it? is it a costly job?

Just unplug it, if it drives better it's at fault
