front brake backplate

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just cured a ticking noise which at first I thought was a stone in the calipers somewhere. The front nearside brake backplate had rotted away at the mountings and had fell onto the inside of the wheel . It has removed all the balance weights and any corrosion bumps/lumps and left lots of scratches down to the metal in the inner wheel. Wheel repaint/relacquer/rebalance needed. The o/side plate is near perfect though. Is this a common occurrence? Any one know where to get a new one/part No. and any idea of the cost?

My fronts don't look too bad, but the rear backing plates are rotting away.

Mines an early 2005.

I bought some replacement rears the other day. They were 22 each from the dealer and although my car is not a vrs I needed ones compatible with the larger vrs discs I use. Cant imagine the fronts being too different or the non vrs ones being more expensive.

Thanks for the replies,

I had to go to the main dealer for them , £17 + vat , just ordered for both sides as it looks an easy job to change them.
