Insurance prices Grr!

Featured Replies

Whats wrong with insurance companies/people driving the Fabia lately? It costs the same to insure a fabia vrs to a merc c200 cdi both same year...

Seriously consider jump ship if I cant find cheap insurance soon...

Same kinda power in both cars but the Merc is a heavy family car where as the Fabia is a sporty "warm hatch". Says it all tbh. The Merc might be worth more, but there is probably a much higher chance the Fabia will end up in a hedge.

That said, insurance is a black art, Mrs recently got a quote on a R32 golf, same price as her current Fiesta ST!

Try Aviva if running close to standard. Last year I was quoted £230ish for a standard car. Shame mine's just a tad too modded for them.

The same thing happened to the Mk1 Octavia VRS.

Once they got cheap enough for young drivers to buy them and start launching them into the hedgerows insurance rates went up for everyone.

Mines due renewal on the 26th cheapest quote is £1600 :( 2 none fault accidents and one goes down as fault as an uninsured driver hit me so had to claim off my own :( absolutely devastated

Hi,

Feel free to give us a try if you like.

Regards,

Dan.

I've tried you guys^ (Flux) every year for the last 4 years and never have I had a good price.

Admiral and elephant were the best for me.

Edit: I'm 27, I have 3 points for MW10, I have 5 years no claims bonus, have never had an accident or claim, I live in Manchester. And my current policy was around £1200 give or take. This is fully comp with Admiral.

I have pass plus as well, not that it seems to make any difference.

I thought insurance was meant to get cheaper when you hit 25 years old lol.

I will do nothing but laugh at your company tomorrow when I ring them up to CANCEL my renewal, had my crash last year and the quote this year has doubled what I paid last year to just shy of £1900, went to Bell and they came back with £1075 with all the mod's declared.

I've always found come renewal time you seem to push customer's away with prices just picked randomly outta nowhere

EDIT: Oh and apparently that was the best price you could do when I rang up to complain about it.....

I'm with Hastings Direct, no one else could touch them. I pay £240 a year, fully comp with business use, protected NC and a 20k a year millage.

this is part of the reason swmbo's VRS is being traded for a citigo greentech in 6-8weeks

cars 10 years old and 96k on the clock

need something cheaper to insure and run

£780 to insure my Fabia with mods declared, 180bhp worth around 4k

Less than half that to insure my stock S3 265bhp and worh over 3times as much.

Fully comp in both instances, cars not garaged, Mrs grr covered to drive the Audi

as well at 29 having held her licence for 5 years.

It's mad isn't it...

I pay 280 a year full comp for me and my mrs she got no no claims was cheaper that my diesel mondeo

I'm wondering what the difference is between the UK and Slovakia, where a colleague of mine insured his vRS for €79. :wall:

Mines is 380 fully comp 23 6 no claims, direct line.

if you work for yourself, try getting a policy through the business or a fleet policy. £260, anyone with a licence can drive it and I can drive other cars. think you would need to declare as taxable benefit come year end though.....

Hi,

I'm sorry we weren't competitive for your renewal. We would of course like to retain all our customers at renewal date but unfortunately that's not possible I'm afraid. I'd of course be happy to take a look at your details just to make sure but probably unlikely we would be able to reduce it to the sort of figures you have been getting for this year.

Regards,

Dan.

I'm not being funny Dan, and I know its not your fault, but I had my classic Mini insured with you a few years back, list of mods declared aslong as my arm and the price was fantastic, renewal time came and it had gone up £300-£400 without any changes, no accidents, no changes to my job or where the car was kept etc and still agreed value of £8000. Rang around and found it £100 cheaper than the year before, and this seems always the case come renewal time with yourselves for no apparent reason.

Crazy, might jump on the S3 boat or similar then if its the same case for me, saving the amount on insurance will compensate for the extra fuel used!

If only they actually stick to a system which we can all follow then wont get stung randomly for owning a particular car.

I'm 21 with 2 yrs no claims fully comp is £1200 a year on my vrs yet the corsa 1.2 I had before it was 2200 it's crazy I love to know who makes up all there figures

Because corsa's are the fodder for young inexperienced drivers who crash them.

I went from paying under £300 for a heavily modified roadster to paying 60% more on a basic fabia with half the power and 3x the weight because of a damage claim and another car being hit while parked by an uninsured drunk driver.

Try Brentacre, very competitive for me,

24, 2 claims, no accidents, 1 years no claims, birmingham postcode

Never,Ever renew on last year company ,without a check on the various comparison sites. Then , consider if you are a young driver if you've got an ancient relative with yonks of licence and oodles of NCB . Add them to the policy -they may never need to drive, but Ins co love them. Me- I've found my co for now - TILL NEXT RENEWAL .

oh the trials of car insurance.

ive got a 400hp scooby, endless list of mods protected no claims , costs me 550, the same company wanted 750 for a standard fabia vrs. in the end after alot , and i mean alot of sniffing around i got them both insured for 1050. the explanations i was getting really p***ed me off. ie "because it was my everyday car i would be more likely to crash it" but i thought the risk was evaluated through my ncb not which car i chose to drive. basically how the insurance see it is you could have 20 years ncb but as soon as you step into a corsa you will crash.....
