Which Yeti?

Featured Replies

As we own a 1.2 Tsi and a 170 CR 4x4 I can honestly say the following:

The 1.2Tsi is more nimble, lighter and more responsive to drive.

But the 2.0 diesel 4x4 has the superior traction out of corners and when pulling away.

I like driving both, but in some ways the 1.2 is more rewarding because it responds to driver inputs better being around 200kg lighter.

However, now the 2.0 deisel is mapped to 200bhp it does well.

It's a bit heavy, but has great balance and some real grunt. It covers ground quicker than people expect.

I really like your summary but, if I were being picky:

Pulling away - Sure thing in many, many cases

Out of corners - Really? Is theory usurping practice here?

It's not a fecking Ferrari! - exactly how many corners do you accelerate out of where the Yeti front wheels break traction?

Yes, out of hard corners where the 2wd one will just under steer the power away until you back off the throttle. Considering its been used on track id imagine on quite a few corners. ;)

Ho Hum!

I've got a screwdriver that's useless at banging in nails, so I know exactly what you mean

Yeti Man,

As many of us have found the best way of dealing with the "out of tune" one is to ignore him, for which there is a button in your Profile area.

And as he has been quoted here so we've had to read him, it must be remembered that he can only give an opinion on the marketplace in his country , on his planet, which is very different to that here in the UK.

Does this answer your question?

This is my Yeti by the way.

I didn't buy a 4x4 Yeti and remap it to 200bhp for popping to the shops at 30mph.

Believe me, there is a big difference in how much traction you have out of corners where I can pull out a lead on Octavia VRS's.

It's like the swiss army knife of cars. :)

Quick and a bit of fun on track, can tow 2000kg, do a bit of light offroading and also act as a sensible family car that doesn't draw too much attention.

By the way, Ferraris are overrated. :D

I had two of them on a track day with me last week and overtook both. But I wasn't using my Yeti. ;)
