Featured Replies

As the title says can anyone let me know the best place to buy a decent microfibre drying towel or even recommend a specific one.

Cheers :)

Cheers lads, may have to go for one of those :)

I'm getting a wooly mammoth one just because of the sales pitch! Very comical.

'I'm one inch thick!'

I think I'm going to go for the wooly mammoth towel too :)

The sales pitch sells it pretty well :p

I use the Uber drying towels from mat at I4D

Woolly mammoth for me too. Great towel! Just wondering what the best way to eventually have to clean it though.

I'm going to throw an alternative suggestion in here. First off I've not used a mamouth so can't say what they are like. I have used a meguiars waffle drying cloth but would not recomend those. Yes they're better than chamois-either proper or synthetic, but mine soon filled with water and needed constant wringing out. I've also used one of these, but found it big and unwieldy to use

I've since started using Kent microfibre towels

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-X-KENT-EXTRA-LARGE-MICROFIBRE-TOWEL-CLOTH-VALETING-CLEANING-FIBRE-DRYING-XXL-/350656744504?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Car_Care_Cleaning&hash=item51a4c54c38#ht_1838wt_1328

What I do is rinse the car off after washing with an open hose- it's surprising how much water this removes. I then use one of these Kent towels flat on the car and just draw it across the roof/bonnet etc in a straight line. It's big enough to soak up the water but not too big that you end up spending ages trying to wring the bu**er out. I use the first one until it's wet, wring it out and carry on until I've done the whole car. Next I get another dry one and go over the car again soaking up the water that's left. It's quick and easy to do and works for me. After giving them a final wring I then hang the towels up to dry in the garage. Once they show signs of getting dirty it's into the washing machine on a 30 degree wash. being yellow they show the dirt easily so if you do find an area you missed then it quickly becomes apparent and because I've got 5 of the devils I swap over so I don't risk scratching the paint.

Cleaning cars... don't you just love it! :giggle:

You should really be cleaning your drying towel after every use Jason? Simply pop it in the washing machine without adding softener and you will be fine.........

Tip:

These large thick towels are brilliant

Wooly Mammoth

Uber

Etc...Etc

BUT they are a complete sod to try and ring out

I have this: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1c32bb42d7

Absolutely great for those drying towels

Can't I have ever had to ring our a drying towel, surely you have more than one to ensure the car is dried properly before moving onto the next stage?

One towel will never be enough to dry even the average sized car, especially if it's not been prepped correctly..........:(

I do

I often do two cars at once ..I spin while I dry with another

I wouldnt be without my spin drier anymore!!

The Uber towel is a very reasonable price.

Either way looks like I might have to get two. Will one be sufficient to dry a Fabia?

I have a wicker basket I put all my microfiber towels in there with my socks and underpants etc and next day they all reappear washed and dry in a neat fluffy pile.

Mind if my wife sees this it will be me that will be in hot water.

LOL... :giggle:

BUT...MF can pick up powder detergent and leave some behind...giving out some dust when dry

Get her to use liquid detergent

I'll let you work out how :giggle:

:hi: I don't think I will push my luck on the liquid detergent unless Ecover do one. She is trying to save the planet so I may try that.
