Hit "Limp Mode" Last night

Featured Replies

Was giving the car (Fab vRS) quite high revvs (have few mods done including OneClick) and the ECU kicked the car into "Limp Mode" i.e the car had no turbo! Was seriously slow, so I pulled over turned the engine off, and put it back on and it was fine!

Anyone else experienced this????

Sounds like a turbo-protection safety feature ;)

Don't push Furbia, she doesn't like to be pushed. Especially when she's standing still  Make her purr on all fours, and once she does, push it down real hard and she'll orgasm like crazy

Hope you get the jist :D

Avoid going over 4.5k - there is absolutely zero point in doing so if you wanna go fast.

Feed in gently & it will fly :)

I believe a few others with "tuned" cars have had this too. Normally it happens on hot days *cough* FMIC *cough*

Seems like FMIC is definitely going to help, or at the very least TT venting?

It could be a few things, but could possibly be the inlet temps getting too high, especially with the recent weather.

Yes I agree I have a TT style vent (well drilled holes next to the intercooler! but I was hitting high revvs 4.5k because of the exhaust (Blueflame) it like to revv higher but to be honest I should of changed up earlier, I was racing a Scooby had to win! Was ahead until my turbo stopped :thumbdwn:

again stu, it's a waste revving that high! Infact you will lose ground to what you are trying to beat. Keep it in the power band  I think there is only so much the TT arch mod will do

Hi everyone

hi

bengie, it's just somebody p!ssing about on the forum!

Sounds drastic. FMIC sounds a pretty good mod really.

I also hit "limp home" mode once early in the morning (not too warm) but after REVO addition trying to see what top end. Due to sustained full throttle, once I'd seen 150 on the clock limp home kicked in. This was not a no turbo thing, it was no acceleration at all. It would maintain a speed, but once slowed down, it would not accelearate at all. Like you, I switched off and restarted and he was fine....

I think that's a case of "maximum engine speed exceeded - warranty void"!!!:D

So guys...

What's the vRS like when the turbo stops working?

Like a non-turbo diesel!!

You mean the power drops by like 50bhp right? Moves like a trailer truck?

Well, the SDI is what, 58bhp? And, IIRC, that's the same block, just without the turbo...so looks like it might be closer to a 70bhp drop... :D

Rob.

Limp mode doesn't just shut down the turbo, though.

It restricts allsorts of things.

Don't be so easy on yourself, the turbo gets knocked out completely

I love teasing you guys :D

But think of the economy ;)
