Water collecting in rear doors

Featured Replies

Just had same problem in our '13 plate Rapid.

Water in rear door.

Pulled the rubber seal slightly, and about 2 to 3 pints of water came out.

So, should a dealer be fixing this for free, or do we just cut holes into the seal ourselves?

Dealer will do it for free :) iirc its a recall

Thanks! Problem solved To anyone else with the same issue, you need to prise the rubber seal on the bottom of the door away slightly until you find the slit. As soon as I did the water came tricklin

  • Inspector,   I agree with your simple analysis, We have a great car that fits certainly most  requirements for a spacious, quality, easy to drive and economical car and £ for £ better than anything

  • I needed more than a bucket I worry long term about the affect this exposure to water will have on the car...I was thinking of investing in the audio of the car but I might have to look at marine spe

If you can't be arsed with the dealer.....

Pull the rubber seal away slightly and drain the door. Thoroughly clean the rubber seal with rubber treatment and make sure the drain hole is fully clear under the rubber, sometimes body wax can block the holes. Keep an eye on it, when washing or heavy rain check the door is draining OK, just ease the rubber seal away to check. If it still collects water then a small V shaped can be cut at the appropriate place in the rubber to aid draining.

It's only a few minutes job to do, if you can't or not able to do it then book it in with the dealer.
