Thats ok then !!

Each to there own' date='lack of knowledge and the usual unwillingness to change and accept a different technology is why the majority of UK car drivers are still paying the goverment all that money in tax and duty.

well i'm now part of the 200,000 or so LPG user's on the UK roads and i'm taking full benefit of the lower cost to drive my car :)

more fool the rest of you for not even taking the time to learn about it and save yourself some cash.[/quote']

Alex, it's not a lack of knowledge or unwillingness to change I can assure you of that. Yes, I'm ****ed off with the cost of fuel and yes LPG is cheaper, cleaner, has other benefits etc etc which isn't in debate (for me anyway).

I just happen to have major reservations about the retro-fitting of LPG to a 'normal' petrol vehicle which hasn't been engineered from the initial concept stage. The addition of extra fuel tanks (especially in the passenger compartment) creates additional hazards which i personally don't believe have been assessed properly.

Each to there own but for now I'll keep lining the pockets of the tax man.....

This is rediculous. LPG is far cheaper than petrol. Period. Stop whinging. Get a conversion !! Then reap the rewards. It that simple !!

I completely understand your point of view Jimmy.

But all LPG kits even ones from Vauxhall and Volvo are a retro fitted to the standard car and are not developed from the concept stage.

The Volvo's would be my preference if i was to buy a LPG car from new as they are a very well thought out fitment as you would imagine from Volvo.

i just get very frustrated when trying to explanin the benefits of LPG as the majority of people just completely switch off to change.

and if i can save fellow car enthusiast's some of there hard earned cash then i feel i've acheived something.

But it's not that simple though is it...

As highlighted, what sort of testing goes on with additional fuel tanks to make sure they're safe in the event of crash?

And the only reason it's cheap is because of the reduced tax...not because it's using less of the resource. Hence there is a risk of paying for the conversion, only to find it costs you more if the government decide to put the tax up.

Alex,

Could you do me a favour, could you write a short guide, maybe some pics and so on for what you have done....

I'd like to add it into the site under your credit of course. I think it's a viable way forward for people on higher than average mileages. I admit to cherry picking topics out of the air when I've heard people talking. Reset some older perceptions. Would be a good read and an valuable asset I think.

Let me know either way,

Cheers :D

Colin.

I'd be surprised if Skoda in NL didnt do these conversions, might be worth dropping them a line perhaps?

Very interested to read this. It is a good idea that more people get to know about LPG - The benefits as well as any potential pit falls.
