Or a 4th option wait for more chips and change the windshield using the ensurance policy.

It's the front n/s wing not the windscreen!

Ah... then you can wax the car...

VERY nice mate! Car porn to me!!

Hope to see some more in the flesh at the Maidstone meet on Saturday!!

Paint on Skoda bumpers is a huge weak point, very thin and easily chipped. I'd just touch it up personally will only happen again.

I've also noticed the paint inside the headlamp washer housing is only white primer on mine rather than colour coded, is this the same on others? It gives a kind of white halo around the opening when you look closely!

Was in dealership yesterday, & the showroom car has scratches in the black also, & it's kept inside, just dusting has caused it!!

I pointed it out to a salesman, & he said Black chrome is very difficult to look after!! Black chrome?!!!

Still getting the fine scratches after each wash, Auto Glym car glass polish helps, after washing, but scratches are still present on close inspection, have posted in Styling & Car Care forum asking for advice,

will let you know if anything comes of it!!!

Baker21 responded over on the Styling & Car care Forum, he says all we can do is be careful. He is a much respected expert detailer, I was lucky enough to have my mk2 Octavia Vrs detailed by him a few years ago!!

I was hoping there was a wonder product out there, but if he doesn't know of one, there isn't!

Quite impressed with the fuel economy while on holiday, car did Cambridge-Bispham (Blackpool)-Kendal (Lakes)-Burton-in-Kendal-Bispham-Cambridge & has done 2 trips to work & back,

on same tank with 40 mile range still showing, then 2 miles to service station this morning 595miles, on way home from Bispham to Cam was getting 61.3mpg.

Mixture of driving modes, Normal Cam to Bispham & Bispham to Lakes, Sports mode in Lake district, Normal back to Bispham, Eco Bispham to Cambridge & to refuel,

how many litres of diesel did you have to fill up with once you'd done the 595 miles?

I've only put £30 in today, as I'll only be doing local stuff next few weeks.

I filled it right to the top before I went on holiday!

Sensor on the electric fan being an arse again!! Sunday did 10 miles from cold, turned off engine, fan running,

today did short local run 7 minutes, from cold again, turned off engine, fan running again!!!

Might call in dealership to try & get it checked!!

maybe dpf-regeneration?

Maybe, took it in once before, nothing was done, lifted bonnet, ran engine, stared at it, fan didn't cut in, offered the regen explanation, shut bonnet!!

Hence might call in to get it checked, thinking I'm wasting my time, I can stare at the engine from home!!!

Ah, but you can't stare at it with the experience that dealer "technicians" have! :giggle:

check what the idle rpm is when you stop the car before turning off.  if its hovering around 1000rpm and not 800rpm then its in regen mode and worth taking it for a run.  (plus the exhaust will be super hot)

A lot of cars do that and not only diesel engines. My 1.6 petrol does that if the engine is hot and needs to cool off after it's been turned off. No need to worry.

MPG wise, while it's pretty good it's also remarkably similar to what the guys with the 2.0TDI are getting around here. Isn't it supposed to be getting more like high 60s?

Yes it's 1000rpm, but it's doing it while engine is still warming up, this morning 7mins from a cold start, gentle driving max 30mph local roads, seems a bit soon to cut in imo

MPG overall since got car is 49.9 but I do a lot of short local journeys, car gets a run every Sunday, motorways I get 60.1 on a long journey eg Cambridge to Blackpool.

Not far behind you in my 1.2 TSI...I also do mostly short journeys as you can see from my average.

Isn't there a light that comes on or some kind of symbol for DPF regen?

Might be worth keeping an eye out for it just to check.

Notified last week my octy was built last week (week 22 ) and was on the way to the port in germany, any ideas when it will arrive at Grimsby??

My dealer is more or less next to Grimsby Docks where the VAG cars are stored on arrival; let me know what yours looks like, and I'll keep an eye out for it in Grimsby ;-)

Hi Partist, keep an eye out for me please- No 57 on the list (Rog Dodge).Ta Muchly!
