So, I decided to give the new car a wash and leather yesterday, got the appropriate equipment and potions ready and unleashed the hose for the preliminary rinse. :rain:

Forgot roof fully open.....thank you auto close! :whew:

Auto close?

I discovered that the rain sensor automatically closes the sunroof.....

Auto close?

Detects rain, closes roof.

I discovered that the rain sensor automatically closes the sunroof.....

...and windows. It can be turned off in maxi dot should you wish. :)

Mine will be closing often then :rain::giggle:

I wish we'd had auto window close when I had the Freelander. At the time we used to tow a caravan and returning it one day to the storeage site I left the drivers door window open. We took refuge in the van during a sudden but heavy rain shower. Needless to say the leather seat was soaked and although I sat on a number of towels the drive home was very uncomfortable.

Other things on your mind John? ;)

Worth checking out. I recall that auto close only works to close a tilted open roof when rain starts. Mine is 2010 model so may be different now. In fact will check out mine. It certainly din't close from fully open when a shower arrived Luckily I was there!!

One of the things I'm most looking forward to in my Yeti is the big sunroof.

I'm going to treat Ivor to some of THIS........................ :p

That horrible grunting the pressure washer is making is an indication of low water pressure.

No hijack intended.

Needed to fold up the rear seats in order to get some bags of rubbish to the council tip. Offside and centre seat lifted but the nearside one was jammed. I am well out of warranty so set to with a long screwdriver and a torch thinking I probably just needed to push a catch somewhere and it would free up. My three dimensional visualisation is not that good nowadays and I just could not get it to work. Frustrated I sat in the seat to ponder the cost of taking it to the main dealer to sort out when I reached down to check the forward/aft position and found it wasn't fully back. Pushing the seat rearward solved the problem, it lifted like it should. I would have really felt a twit if I had taken it to the dealer!!

This thread is open to all in a spirit of confession!!

OT, perhaps - forgive me:

Fascinating video (JMO). Environmental question: what's the foam made of?

Have you reached the necessary age where these sort of things happen naturally Tom ? If so you can take it for granted that "Twit" things happen regularly
  • 4 weeks later...

Just remembered my roof does close from fully open when raining - especially when rain close function is enabled

I used to have this set but when you tick the "Auto close" box the internal blind also closes every night... And that was a pain as I NEVER close the blind. So every morning I had to open the blind. Nah. Un-ticked the box pronto.

Good call on the big roof, mate of mine has a Qashqai +2 (if that's how to spell it?) with a big roof, but IT DOESN'T OPEN....not much use then is it ?

Brilliant in any weather when the blind is open but especially when weather ok & the velux is al fresco....also very useful for carrying oversize dods of wood for assorted garden & house repairs.

170 TDi Elegance, most toys except electrically operated seats & satnav. 7.5k miles, average cons 45.6 mpg. Expect that to improve as the miles roll under the wheels. Early night, away at 6 in the morning to Ullapool for 2 weeks walking & fishing holiday....weather looking a bit iffy for next few days, but as The Big Yin says, there's no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes.

Adios the noo.
