An odd one... Road Legal Tank

Featured Replies

I thought those motors were bomb proof :)

As if, and if you think a VRS drinks oil then you need to try a CV12 but then it is a 1500 hp diesel :)

Both CVR(T) and the 430 series have been reengined with diesels so no more straight 6 Jaguar units or the venerable K60. I don't know whether that ever improved reliability or not though.

WTF???!!! Have the men in white coats not picked you up yet??!! A tweaked Yeti = Nice, a bright yellow GTR = awesome, a smashed up Roomster = not sure, a 400 break Citigo = lunacy, a tank = fecking

  • What an amazing day and a great toy.   Passed, so can now drive one on the road!       What's the salary like?

ON the subject of oil consumption and risking off topic scorn I stumbled across some data about V10 BMW engines which were put in M5 barges from '07 but stopped recently with the advent of bi-turbo motors. Those V10's were using 1l of oil in 1000km LOL Not far off from the tank

Nearly as much as a mkII Fabia VRs.

So basically if it has the CAVE engine I'm OK?

I'd just hide in a cave, Richard ;)

A nice cave is not a bad thing to hide in, quite popular as it keeps constant temp throught the year. CAVE I would not hide in on the other hand ;)

I think Richard, if you got a CAVE MK2 Fab vRS, mounted a 50 cal somwhere you'd see no difference from a tank, at least in oil usage department

Do it. You'll have to buy a replica of Airwolf mind you!

One like this?

Bossfox Island?

I brought a ex Russian military truck once while drunk off eBay, had a multi fuel engine and my drunken logic dictated that it would cost nowt to run by getting petrol or diesel from missfuled cars. Luckily my buy it now was cancelled automatically due to having less than 10 feedback lol

yeah, with your free prescriptions, free hospital parking and all that spare cash for duplicate road signs that only a small minority can understand

We have to pay 5p for carrier bags though, swings and round abouts I suppose.

On topic, I do love some threads on this site fairplay.

"How about your wine collection?" he said hopefully.

I don't drink (in the alchohol sense) which probably explains something! :D

  • 5 weeks later...

Any more luck with working out what tank you want?

I nearly bought a Striker CVRT (the rocket pod version) a few weeks back, but it went before I got there.

My Cat H test has been postponed as they do a few people at a time, so I'm currently waiting on an available date with a DVLA tester and I am doing the test in a different place in Kent that does one on one.

Hopefully late July or early August.

Going to pass my test first and then take it more seriously.

The CVRT series is the one for me I have decided.

Considered one with a gun, so a Sabre or Scorpion.

But the gun adds ££££ and you only get three crew spaces.

So it's looking like the APC version of the same chassis.

The benefit here is not only space for the family, but there are some of these just available with the mk2 Cummins diesel from the Belgium army that are in good shape.  All the current enthusiast owned CVRT tanks are the old 4.2 petrol Jag engined version, which have had quite a bit of fixing up as the lastest ones released are a bit rough.

I'm guessing that's not often a requirement people have down when buying a tank....  :giggle:

It wasn't a consideration of mine, but Mrs Fox has sprog number two on the way.

Three crew spaces is not going to cut it...

Besides, who will be the gunner stuck inside?  :giggle:  (It'll end up being Mrs Fox and she won't want to play any more)

I assume you'll be getting something like this to get them in the right frame of mind from day 1....

Err.. no.

I'm not that crazy. :)

If you can get a Samaritan, it's got a high roof, and can legitimately wear red crosses on a white ground, which may help in some situations.

Around about 2000 so as to comply with the NATO Single Fuels Policy, all of the remaining CVR(T) vehicles were converted to diesel using the Cummins B6 unit if I recall correctly. Don't know if UK MOD are selling any of these off yet, but if so perhaps keeping an eye out for?

I've got H class :) You could pick up a nice CVRT (Don't go for a 432 ......hideous creatures) with a straight 6 petrol engine. If it's space your after go for a Sultan :) Scorpions will allow you to fit ration pack tins of Beans / Mace / Sausages in the breach, and where interesting with a blank charge (don't ask how I know, mis-speant 17years in a green suit)

There are a few Abbot SPG's kicking around on military auction sites and they are packing 105mm gun.

It's a pity Warrior's are not going out yet, that would be fun :)
