I have for some time really fancied getting a tank.

Not a big expensive one, a small one.

Similar size to a Ford Galaxy. Something like one of the CVRT series.

Personally prefer the Sabe as it's got a gun, although interior space is a bit limited compared to the APC.

They are not THAT expensive either, coming in around the price of a decent new Fabia.

Although if you start using it the running repairs are going to come to a bit.

Which made me think about an armoured car. Something like a Ferret. Doesn't have the same appeal though, even though it's cheaper to run.

My wife is off for a break for a week in a month or so and I thought it'd be a nice surprise if I can get it parked in the front garden for her return. Well, nice for me.

So I was wondering, has anyone done thier class H tank driving license?

Anyone know anywhere around the South East that does it?

Although the mk2 with the multi fuel engine does make sense.

But to get something with a gun and drive it on the road pretty much limites you to one of these:

The thought of all the places you could take a tank just to get funny looks. A drive through, shopping, trackdays. Sounds like great fun

The CVR(T) family are often considered as good "first armour". There's an enthusiasts' group for armour, some of whom own tracked stuff just up the road from you at Duxford (yes that Duxford) behind the land warfare hall.

The wheeled stuff all seems a bit normal.

I was previously heavilly into Land Rovers and the series 1, 2 etc... Too similar.

H test to drive a tank on the road is £625(+vat) for a day of training in a tank and the test the next day.

That's not actually that bad.
