A blow up Doll to entertain yourself whilst under the blanket for an hour.

I notice Sheldon did mention a live Brunette, but NOT a blanket . So is the doll really necessary .

Me - I've got a lot of stuff that I can't be bothered to chuck out . Add to that ,a bottle of juice ( I'm diabetic), a length of fuel hose ( I'm superstitious and I've had two go in the past year). A car phone charger ,and two HI VIS jackets . I also carry a torque wrench for my alloys, and in case wifie can't get the nuts off, a can of tyre repair stuff ,a tyre pump and a pressure guage. ( I talk whhel nuts, as if angry ,my nuts would not be safe). OH-yes ,a baby seat ( handy when dyslexic mums clog up the disabled spaces in Asda).-

I never go for a drive without double checking to make sure I'm in the car. HTH

What is all this junk you's lot are carrying?

Are you going across the sahara or something?

What tat I have to loose a few MPG:

Fire extinguisher (saved a car from going up with one once, so always carry)

Stupid triangle (stupid as I have never opened it)

First aid kit(s) (have 2 because I do, not sure why)

Bulb/fuse kits (why not be able to rectify a simple fault without calling recovery or breaking the law to change later)

High visibility vests (have to and it's a good thing IMO)

Sleeping bag (its light and handy if stranded)

Micro fibre mitt (to clean dash)

Bungee cable (to hold stuff in boot if needed)

Torch (in case I am having to change wheel at night etc)

Full sized spare alloy/kit* (sod putting a steelie on like some pikey and being meant to do no more than 80kph)

Torque wrench (if a jobs worth doing.... and what else am I going to use it for?)

Safe (anchored in boot)

Phone charger (always have 2 mobiles on me so just in case battery low)

Box of matches (I am a fire starter!)

Wind proof lighter (as above but extends to windy conditions)

Approx 50 fuel receipts (and counting)

Sun glasses (proper vampire in bright sun personally)

Briskoda round sticker (2 years still not decided where it's going)

Rubber gloves (in case of wheel change etc)

Retarded French breathalysers (no one knows why) (not enforced but still law in France so I will play their game for now)

Glass hammer/seatbelt cutter (on floor under drivers seat because it might save my or someone else's life some day)

All car documents (law by location)

OBDII BT fault code reader thing (because)

Boot liner tray (keeps all clean under)

Pair of off road shoes (AKA boots, in case I feel like a wee hike)

Camera (mounted on windscreen as a black box of sorts)

iPod (plugged into MDI)

Glow sticks (glow sticks rule!)

Parking disc (need it for most parking in NL)

Bully bat (steering lock)

TT3D DVD (to watch on Columbus when waiting for something)

Dustpan and brush (between hoovering its perfect to keep mats clean)

Big umbrella (not officially mine, some say stolen, I say fly tipped in my car 6 years ago!)

Packing foam (in case something delicate needs moved)

* = inc the crapest jack known to man!

Bar the glass hammer nothing is on display in car. There is no real forethought for most of the stuff. I just seem to have accumulated it over time and transferred from car to car for the most part.

Spare oil, a philips & flat headscrewdriver, 3 fishing rods set up ready and a bag of fishing tackle.

Me, nothing else, just adds weight and rattles about, sometimes other family members, the dog etc.

As for tools, none, I sometimes put a coat in when it is cold but apart from that nothing.

Come to think of it. Don't buy a french car and you won't need anything lol

This time of year I'd not bother with the blanket: In Winter I add a shovel.

Great, thanks, will add these.

High energy snacks and/or MREs

Tire air gauge

WD-40

A change of clothes

Towels

Duct tape

A carpet remnant

Road salt

A shovel

Thank you for these too. Is there a big difference on what a 3 lb. and 5 lb. extinguishers can deal with?

These are some proper end-of-the-world lists, I love that. I used to be a boy scout, so I sort of like to be prepared for whatever life throws at me with no assistance.

Big thanks to everybody else who chipped in too.

Do you really need a glass hammer? :giggle:

In summer -

2' pipe to get wheel bolts off. Sits in the emergency triangle holder nicely since SUK don't supply the triangle.

Tarp in boot, but that to keep the boot tidy.

Spare oil

Disposable camera

Phone charger

In winter -

^ plus

Some screenwash

Boots

Spade

padded shirt

Waterproof trousers

Currently in my car I have (for breakdowns):

RAC Blankets

Jump Starter Kit.

Winter:

Nice Warm Coat (big parker)

Shovel

(my old) Motorbike boots

Ice scraper

(Out and about)

Detailing spray (body & wheels) and couple of microfibre cloths :D

I am thinking of putting a towing pole in there aswell. Just incase.

Motorsport marshalls always have 5lb extinguishers. UK "Petroleum Spirits Transport Regulations" (normally just PetRegs) mandate that roadgoing fuel tankers have 2x 5lb on board.

I normally carry 2x 9kg and 1x2kg if drawing bulk fuel, as it surpasses the ADR requirements. If you are doing bulk fuel anywhere in Europe and your employer isn't providing the min 2 kg for cab Total 12 kg (including at least one 6 kg) poke at the Dangerous Goods Advisor, refer to ADR para 8.1.4.1. That is of course is dependant on MAM of vehicle but realistically talking anything 5000 litres and over. VOSA love tankers in UK. This would apply running under GB 'Hazchem panels' or Kemler plates if doing multi modal journeys.

Wow, either I under-prepare or you all doubt VAGs reliability! ;)

I've got a spare tyre, some plastic/rubber gloves from fuel stations if I remember to grab a handful and a set of jump leads (which are usually needed to start the Polo. . .), in the winter I sometimes wear a coat out too, but not often.

Edit - there's also the stuff BMW provide like a triangle, rechargeable torch, first aid kit and the small (but very useful) toolkit in the boot lid.

@FUBAR - You're correct; I was guessing from the size of the extinguisher holsters and presuming dry foam.

Glass hammer will smash if you use it.

I bought a glass hammer to. First time I used it to chase a wall it ******* shattered.

Missed Matts post

Currently in my car:

A Gerber multitool with seat belt cutter, glass breaker and the usual knife, bottle opener, saw, plyers, etc

Spare phone charger and spare laptop charger

Tissues

Air compressor which plugs into the in car power socket, came in handy many times in the past, fits nicely with the spare tyre

A screwdriver with loads of different attachment heads including torx

Very bright Led Lenser torch (I have a bit of a torch fetish)

Pair of gloves, the grippy warehouse type ones, warm as well as durable

Had a small plastic ice scraper but removed it last month

About 5 empty shopping bags, don't know why but have a few in the storage pouch on the back of the front passenger seat

High viz vest, use it occasionally for work so keep it in the car all the time

Big bottle of water, not to drink but comes in handy occasionally, used it along with a tissue to clean fresh warm bird mess off my roof not long ago

Cheap sunglasses, in the car all year round, i have a better pair for summer which I don't leave in the car because of there value

That's about it really, the rattles are bad enough when the cars empty so i try and keep things in the glovebox to a minimum, and what I do have is wrapped up so it doesn't make any noise, screw driver sitting inside a glove, multitool resting on some tissues, etc

Ah I've one of them too, forgot about that and it's probably the most useful thing in there.

Because I have no spare wheel I have:

Tyre foam can

Tyre pump

Plus:

High viz

Tow rope

First aid kit

Torch x 2 (one in the boot, one in drivers door pocket)

Bungee cords

Small can of all in one spray oil for my bike

And two blankets mainly to cover the seats when the dog is in the car.

Nothing else other than CDs, pen and paper and phone charger etc.

 I carry a few basic hand tools, bit of rag, can of fuel, some oil and water, spare wheel, jack, wheelbrace, mobile phone, a tow rope, a fan belt and a set of points and condenser.

The last 2 won't apply to most of the cars on here!
