Engine Setting/Cam locking kit

Featured Replies

Hello,

A quick question for the techies out there.

I'm taking the cylinder head off the Fabia (1.2 12v) tomorrow as it looks like I've got a burnt valve and have just been reading up on the procedure. I see that both engine and cam locking tools are used but I can't get my hands on a set until after the weekend. Seeing as at the least I'm going to be stripping the head for a skim and valve re-cut next week, can i get away with not using the locking tools for the tear down and once I've got them get everything in place when the head goes back on? Or is there a DIY method you can use to eliminate the need for the locking tools altogether?

Hope this makes sense.
