Why do we give Yetis names?

Featured Replies

Having just named our new arrival (never named a car before in my life), I got to thinking about why we (sometimes) give cars names. Just curious...

No idea.

Mine is called Yeti.  :D

Flock mentality?

Sentimental old codgers?

Fashion?

Soft in the head?

I could go on ... ... ... But I won't. Mine was more upmarket than Richard's as it was "THE Yeti"!!

Ain't got a clue but ours is MY Yeti, mine I tell you.

Love the answers. Keep 'em coming. Absolutely fascinating...

Sentimental attachment?

Our first was Harvey. Our current one is Fritz, though usually referred to as "The Yeti".

Well, technically they are "Your Yeti" and "My Yeti" in our house. :)

My wife always names cars. Our's is called Candy. I think it's fairly easy to work it out from my signature

Doesn't have a name.

Only car we've ever had with a "name" was my wifes Camaro.

Our Octavia is called Kenny, but only because the reg ends OMG.

Named by SWMBO I might add

If i took that to the logical extension mine would be called "Red Neck" as it looks like it ends in "Dixie".

Maybe i should get a confederate flag on the roof? :giggle:

And climb in through the windows...or am I showing my age?

I'm on the younger end of the Yeti owner spectrum but i'm not sure how well i'd fair jumping in through the windows.....

Insecurity?

First Yeti was universally known as the Pat Monster being the first red Yeti on the forum, this one sometimes gets referred to as Hettie the Yeti but I believe there's a few more Hettie’s out there :giggle:

Or confidence to do something that some others might see as 'sad'?

Her indoors named ours Lotte, although I call it Yeti which I think is a good name for a car anyway. She named the Octavia Bill because it is black and reminds her of a police car. I call this one The Octavia

It's a Yeti-owner thing, I'm afraid, so you're driving the right vehicle :)

At least we don't "do" them in Black & Gold!!

Mine came pre-named........ first two letters on the reg were  LC

We picked our SE a few days before Xmas on the day we went on the 'Santa Express' at the La'al Ratty, Eskdale - not too difficult to work out what our Candy white Yeti's called! Although my 3 year old Grandson insists on calling it Yeti Betty. Gutted!
