Ok, I presently have a P900 which I'm looking to dispatch to my old man since I have a ipaq hx4700 which is far more useful.

I've used the ipaq via BT to the p900 for some basic sim synching and sending of sms from pda via phone and of course good old pda browsing/ssh etc when out and about.

I use this software:

And I'm looking for a new phone at the moment. Possibly one with a good ish camera on as I maybe doing site visits and want to snap one or two things for posterity...I could unpack the digi slr, but don't wish to lug it around everywhere to be frank.

So re that software which appears good untill it's obvious that a 5 year old phone is beeter suited to it than anything since...i/e/ my old t39 or t68 work better than my p900, technology eh ;)

So can anybody recommend other software that will allow me to use my pda as the sms/contact manager via the phone. Don't mind maintaining two phonebooks etc if it gives me the pda connectivity.

Cheers,

ps was thinkinga SE phone, but only because I've had the 888,39,68 and 900, perhaps a 7## is required ;)

Ohanybody with some good "rates" I can use aswell...fed up with vodaphone and going to move on.

I'm on O2, on-line tariffs are pretty good ;)

I've just left O2 for Vodaphone after more years than I care to remember.

Had a huge amount of problems with O2 bills since November. Was getting a bill saying I was in credit and they owed me money then they would cut me off. I'd phone up and they'd say oops our mistake we owe you money. A month later phone would go dead, next day bill would arrive - guess what I've overpaid.

After a lot of phone calls I was advised by O2's own staff to join another supplier as O2 have two billing systems running which aren't compatiable with each other and are producing duplicate and incorrect bills.

I discovered after switching that Watchdog had done a big peoce on the very same thing with O2.

Personally I'd put them with up there with 3 for customer service, that even allowing for 3 being in India.

Well it's Orange or Voda then :D

3 CServices...isn't that the budget they got...or the number the agents count to before cutting you off. Spent more calling 3 services than I did on 2 3 phones in 6 months...

So software ;)

Been with O2 online for 6 months now, no problems. O2 and O2 online are 2 separate companies and each has their own customer service team.

Just for clarification this wasn't O2 online.

It was the new customer manager who told me of their problems, so it's straight from the horses mouth.

You could try having a word with daytripper, he might be able to help out on that...

Rob.

o2 onlines 'customer service' team would like you to pay a premium rate call when they mess up.

Had no problems with Voda, so far.

Actually.. its just national rate number now.. got a email bout it last week :D

ive been on o2 online for 5 years almost.. when they were genie and never had any problems.

edit.. and ive heard a roumor that o2 have stopped selling the SE phones on their network as theres still issues with them... typical SE :thumbdwn:

im on o2... using XDAIII good service cheap bills.

until 3g ever works its as good as it gets... although )2 are rumoured to be skipping further 3g stuff and going to the next level.......

Main problem with 3G is the frequency range it uses, which in turn causes a lower level of coverage by existing cells (gaps between them). It only now is starting to be half-usable. Loads of dropped calls too (on the '3' network, not on 3G generally).

Where I live (near Vodaphone HQ) the Vodaphone coverage isnt always perfect. Ditto with Orange. I've got both those networks and so far I've not had much reason to switch to a 3G-supporting phone.

O2 then - reading through the posts above you seem pretty happy with them?

As for phones with problems, generally, there have been a fair few now. Several Samsung ones don't work well with sending text messages on several networks. Several Nokias keep locking up their BT stack. Free upgrades on the phone firmware still arent happening much :(
